The autumn/winter 2017 Paris haute couture week was more than mere gowns and taffetas, it was a super-accessories and exaggerated silhouette story.
The avant-garde jamboree took place from July 1 to July 8 at various aristocratic destinations in the city where the beautiful Eiffel Tower rests, Paris.

The haute couture season opened in the gardens of Les Invalides, below the gold-domed monument where Christian Dior celebrated 70 years of existence. Featuring Dior’s archival silhouettes—small bodies paired with a voluminous skirt paying homage to Christian Dior himself, Maria Grazia Chiuri designed this collection. The next day, at the Grand Palais, Artist Sonia Delaunay was witnessed as the ultimate inspiration behind the circular ruffles and clashing colours that walked the ramp under 124 foot #ChanelTower. With a stand out collection, Chanel also had the starriest front row with guests like Katy Perry, Cara Delevingne, Tilda Swinton, Kristen Stewart, Claudia Schiffer and Julianne Moore.
Bollywood sensation Sonam Kapoor was the showstopper for designer duo Michael Russo and Tamara Ralph in a dramatic ivory white silver-jeweled wedding gown. Oversized prints, intricate embroideries, exaggerated silhouettes and baroque along with mixed trousers with capes and full-length column gowns were on the mood-board of Armani Prive.
Hosted in the Paris Automobile Club, the Mui Mui show was lively, sporty and street-focused and filled the ramp with beaming coloured jumpsuits, knitwear, patchwork drama and bumbags.
American fashion models’ Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner opened and closed the Alexandre Vauthier show, respectively.
Hammered metal bags seemed to be the accessory of the week through Valentino as the models exhibited modest and feminine hooded capes, robes and gowns as designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli.
