A Star studded Day 3 at Lakme Fashion Week 2017

Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017’s Day 3rd was an affair to remember with a striking display of an array of designs, spectacular patterns and at the same time a socially informed presentation with its section #tagfree. Day 3 witnessed stunning collections from ace designers like Ritu Kumar, Sohaya Misra and many others, which left us wide-eyed.

Here’s a complete look at the major events of the day…

The show commenced with the exhibition of Sohaya Misra’s collection, of the Lakme Fashion Week. The collection set the mood for a vacation, consisting palazzo pants, maxi dresses and crop tops with skirts in fabrics. The show came into a memorable end with Actor Kiara Advani, walking down the ramp in sheer, printed, layered, long, skirt with printed peplum choli.

Divya Sheth’s “RaDa” collection was an artistic merger of pichwai paintings and Frida Kahlo’s surreal art. What dominated her collection was checks merged with florals.

‘Amoh by Jade’ by Monica Shah and Karishma Swali came up with ‘Amaat’, which convey boundless qualities. It was designed keeping in mind the contemporary women and to strike a perfect balance between traditional and modern attires. Swara Bhaskar put an end to the show sheathing metallic silver cowled midi covered with a long lace cover.

Inculcating zardozi and pita work in their collection were Sonam and Paras Modi for Sva. The collection was dominated by traditional silhouette and Indian methods of texturization. Nimrat Kaur closed the show, displaying elegance in an ornate red and gold lehenga.

#Tagfree

Putting an end to all the stereotypes and giving a befitting reply to all the body shaming and gender discrimination, #tagfree portrayed the women of the contemporary world. The concept was to depict the natural beauty of oneself and thrashing the notion of restricting one’s self to certain body types and sizes.

Top labels like Bodice, Dhruv Kapoor, Miuniku, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Raw Mango, Sanchita and Suket Dhir exhibited designs at the #tagfree show. Prominent faces like Sara Jane, transgender model Anjali Lama, Shereen Sikka, singer/songwriter Kavya Trehan, film star Priyanka Bose, fashion consultant Angélique Raina, fashion stylist Sujala Newar all came together to put an end to taboos at the #tagfree show.

Slaying in astonishing Pastel ensemble at the third day of Lakme Fahion Week, Diana Penty sashayed the ramp for Payal Singhal. The designer showcased the collection titled ‘Lady M’, inspired by the dark romanticism of the murder mystery ‘Death on the Nile’ by Agatha Christie.

 ‘Mira’ by Radhika Jain exhibited her magnificent jewellery line at the fashion week. The theme for the collection is ‘Jardin d’Eden’ (Garden of Eden), featuring an array of bespoke pieces, from stunning pendants to precious-stone necklaces, signature bracelets and earrings. The collection inculcated ornate jewellery and geometric accents

Unveiling her latest collection “Maharaja Pop”, Ritu Kumar embellished the ramp with fusion of fabrics. The collection had it all, from floral prints blossomed on tiny skirts, maxis, minis to embroidered blouse, hot pants, tassled tops and dresses, graphic print separates, off shoulder maxis and bomber jackets

UAE-based fast fashion retailer Splash, showcased its Spring Summer’17 collection at Lakme Fashion Week and it was the first time a retail brand unveiled its collection at the fashion show. The show saw the presence of Daisy Shah, Karishma Tanna, Iulia Vântur and Meera Chopra among others. The brand earlier roped in Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif as their brand ambassador.

FSP presented a collection called “The Rebel” for the contemporary headstrong women who are aspiring and daring. Bipasha Basu, who sashayed the runway for Falguni-Shane Peacock, looked amazing in a pastel plunged neckline crystal/sequin encrusted gown with long floor-length cape sleeves and brought the show to an end. The collection inculcated edgy cuts in tulle for dramatic short dresses, stylish body suits, jumpsuits and the amazing Red Carpet gowns.

Third day of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 was a scintillating and dazzling show and the collections displayed were an amalgamation of contemporary and traditional with an element of breaking from the orthodox norms.
