Jaipur Jewellery Show - Wedding Affair

A treasure city full of palaces blanketed by the stories of Maharajas witnessed another spectacular four-day-long show that filled the air with excitement among its huge jewellery-loving audience at the Jaipur Jewellery Show. JJS is a tradition carried forward for 20 years in a row, with this year’s theme being ‘Emerald — Timeless Elegance’. The event that took off on December 23rd 2022, at the Jaipur Exhibition & Convention Centre (JECC) in Sitapura, Jaipur, continued till the 26th, attracting 45,000 visitors and traders from across the country and numerous foreigners. A total of 903 booths displayed an impressive collection of jewellery, gemstones, and the state-of-art machinery used for refining gemstones. Under the wing of Mr Rajnish Rathi, Wedding Affair was present at the event for its longstanding association with India’s most prominent jewellery show.

Mr Vipul Shah, Chairman of the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), inaugurated the show. In his address, Mr Shah highlighted the crucial role played by JJS in promoting innovative designs in gems and jewellery and the export momentum accelerated by India’s foreign trade agreements with countries such as the UAE and Australia. Jadau, Emerald, Kundan, Meena and Polki jewellery stole the show with an equal fascination for Temple Jewellery of the South. Mr Shah also mentioned about the suggestions made to the Union Budget 23-24, including a reduction in import duty on cut and polished gemstones from 5% to 2.5%.

A vintage car theme collection showcased by a designer booth at Aangan Jewellery surprised the audience. Jewellery lovers thronged the city on the second day to witness the 20th edition of the spectacular event. They enjoyed a fun networking evening and a live performance by The Frequency Project band at Hotel Crown Plaza. This year’s brand ambassador of JJS, actor and model Mehak Chahal was also present during the event. The event gave away an opportunity for the exhibitors to network with top retailers and buyers. JJS’s innovation of the year, the B2B initiative Pink Club continued to be the centre of attraction. Talking about it, the Chairman of All India Gem and Jewellery Council (GJC), Mr Ashish Pethe, said that the unique initiative is the need of the hour. Guest of Honour for the ceremony Pramod Derewala, Chairman, National Gems and Jewellery Council of India, reiterated Jaipur being the Emerald Capital and its contribution to Kundan-Meena.

The occasion recognised the best booths for their creative spirit and presentation; Tristar International Corporation won the Best Booth in Gemstones & Jewellery. Tirupati Art Jewellery and Real Pearls by Bunty Motiwala won second and third positions in the same category. Vimal Chand Surana, Convener and JJS Organising Committee, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Five women entrepreneurs, Leela Bordia, Hetal Vakil Walia, Emily Chakraborty, Kichu Dandiya and Chitwan D. Malhotra, were also felicitated for their valuable contribution to the gems and jewellery industry.

A record 15,000 visitors witnessed JJS on the third day shopping for their favourite jewellery from an exclusive range of Gems and Jewellery. Visitors also showed interest in jewellery-related products and machinery at JJS. The show saw the participation of 68 leading vendors from Allied Machinery for Jewellery Manufacturing. Their booths displayed cutting-edge machinery used in various processes ranging from CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) of jewellery making to printing, polishing and plating. Workshops were conducted to educate what goes behind making our favourite pieces of jewellery in an enriching experience. The show also featured machinery used for 3D printing, designing, casting, finishing, laser welding, ball making, laser marking and soldering. Simultaneously, jewellery plating equipment, enamelling, transparent and colour coating and other jewellery finishing machinery attracted several jewellery manufacturers and visitors.
