The third day of India Couture Week 2019 spilled abundance of glamour on the runway. The designer duo Pankaj and Nidhi presented their collection ‘Mosaiq’. The collection took inspiration from the decorative art form that had flourished during the Byzantine era. The collection emphasised on modern yet elegant clothing.
Showstopper Aditi Rao Hydari looked stunning clad in a subtle shimmery pink off-shoulder top paired up with a golden sequin lehenga designed by the skilled duo.
“We wanted to tell something new with this collection that will stick to our classic, modern sensibilities and offer a new kind of couture in the Indian market. So we wanted to do something special, something beautiful and yet be known for our textures and craftsmanship. Make light, wearable and glamorous couture,” said Nidhi.
Pankaj & Nidhi’s Collection 2019 paid tribute to the Byzantine period of magnificent ornamentation by recreating the same magic with artisanal dexterity on textiles. Three-dimensional, hand-cut appliqués and precision inlay work with metallic fabric biscuits had been rendered on translucent tulles and satin organzas to give a breathtaking effect to the garments. Precise and geometric embellished motifs were turned to a medieval inspiration into a graphic vision for the future.
