The Sunday night of November 24 witnessed most influential and talented music artists getting honoured at the American Music Awards (AMAs) 2019 held at Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. Taylor Swift, BTS, and Billie Eilish were amongst the biggest winners of the year. Hosted by Ciara, the awards evening was streamed live on ABC by the fans.

Selena Gomez opened the night with soulful performance on her trending track ‘Lose You to Love Me’, followed by a colourful act on her popular track ‘Look At Her Now’ in an embellished bodysuit. Taylor Swift made a new record by bagging the maximum number of AMAs surpassing Michael Jackson’s record of 24. The 29-year-old singer also won audience’s hearts by performing on her iconic tracks ‘’Blank Space’, ‘Love Story’, ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ and ‘Shake It Off’, where she was joined by Halsey and Camila Cabello. “This album really felt like a new beginning, and I also really love my record label, Universal and Republic. Monte Lipman, Lucian Grainge, thank you for being so generous to me and allowing me to make whatever music I want to make,” Swift said when she won best pop/rock album. “As a songwriter, it’s so thrilling to me that I get to keep doing that.”

Lizzo and Billie Eilish were among the most power-packed performances of the evening as well. Eilish also grabbed two titles of the new artist of the year and favourite alternative artist. Among other winners were Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes who won the best collaboration of the year. The pair also engaged the audience with their romantic performance as well.
