For the modern and the traditional brides, collections by Amit Aggarwal and Rahul Mishra at ICW 2024 have wedding outfits which are just on point!
Day 5 of FDCI’s Hyundai India Couture Week saw exotic collections by ace couture designers Amit Agarwal and Rahul Mishra. While the Amit Aggarwal show was held at the Durbar Hall at the Taj Palace, Rahul Mishra showcased his collection at The Ashok.
The Collections
Innovation and craftsmanship have been the cornerstones of wedding fashion and the collections presented by Amit Aggarwal and Rahul Mishra stood as embodiments of the statement.
Amit Aggarwal brought in a new wave in wedding fashion with his collection ‘ANTEVORTA’ which explores the profound connection between time and the universe, emphasising that nothing exists outside of its influence. The collection reflects the boundless and eternal nature of time, linking every thread and soul in the cosmic dance.
Inspired by the Roman goddess of the future, the outfits featured hand-embroidered tessellations and metallic polymer strips and were perfect for a modern-day gala, sangeet, cocktail or reception. In hues of black, brown, red and gold, the models filled the space with theatrics like mesh masks, hair wraps, hoods and unique braids to outline the five schools of thought parallel to the fundamental concepts of time. “Our couture line transcends conventional fashion boundaries, delving into the fundamental essence of humanity. By envisioning time as five distinct yet interconnected entities, we extend our narrative beyond the realm of fashion.”
World-renowned designer Rahul Mishra added another feather in his cap with his collection ‘Nargis’ at the ICW 2024. Reflecting a deep connection to nature and culture the outfits featured meticulous embroidery and a blend of traditional Indian elements and modern aesthetics, creating pieces like lehengas, sarees, gowns, pantsuits, sherwanis and suits that are timeless and contemporary. Inspired by the Mughal Garden, the collection featured vibrant hues, sequin work, aari thread work, bugle beads, freshwater pearls, kundan, nakshi pitta work and motifs of flowers, fruits, birds and other natural elements. The dream of this collection was realised over a period of eight months by more than 1,200 artisans from various villages.

The Showstopper
While Amit Agarwal let the models and the designs take the limelight on his runway, Rahul Mishra created pure nostalgia as actress Lisa Ray turned his showstopper. The actress dazzled in an ivory and gold-toned saree gown that came with gold-toned floral embellished appliques and a peacock-themed train. She completed the look with a corseted bodice blouse, a sleek ponytail adorned with red roses and earrings and rings from the jewellery brand Mora.
The Success
Designer Amit Agarwal stuck to his innovative ideas and experimental cues with his collection and partnered with the jewellery brand ISVARI Jalandhar Jewellery House to add an extra edge to his creations. His showcase was attended by the designer’s friends from the industry like Abhay Deol, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Kritika Kamra, Sanjana Sanghi and singer Raja Kumari.
Lisa Ray walked for Rahul Mishra amidst a white floral runway on the tunes of her song Afreen Afreen bringing back memories from her creative career. The designer partnered with Mora Design House for the blingy and beautiful jewellery and was supported by media personalities like Sachin Tendulkar’s daughter Sara Tendulkar.
