Apple introduces iOS 14, introducing the biggest update ever to Home Screen pages. This new operating system comes with beautifully redesigned widgets and the App Library. This is a new way to tap into the App Store with App Clips, powerful updates to Messages, and more. The new features also include a few that should look pretty familiar to Android users who have had similar functionality for some time.

New Features

The newest version of its smartphone software was unveiled at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC). The new widgets present timely information at a glance. And can be pinned in different sizes on any Home Screen page. Also, users can create a Smart Stack of widgets, which uses on-device intelligence to surface the right widget based on time, location, and activity. Again, Home Screen pages can display widgets that have customization for work, travel, sports, entertainment, and other areas of interest.

At the end of the Home Screen pages are the App Library, a new space that automatically organizes all of a user’s apps into one simple, easy-to-navigate view, and intelligently surfaces apps that may be helpful at the moment. Users can choose how many Home Screen pages to display and easily hide pages for quick access to the App Library.

iOS 14 was announced at WWDC 2020 on June 22, but Apple didn’t say when it would officially launch, saying only that it would be this autumn. Based on previous years, however, we cautiously expect Apple to release iOS 14 to the public between 14 and 18 September 2020.

Apple is also looking to turn the iPhone into a car key with its new contactless CarKey feature. This allows your iPhone to unlock a car using NFC. The feature is rolling out to both iOS 13 and the new iOS 14. The 2021 BMW 5 series will be the first car to support it. (Source: The Guardian)
