A vision towards legacy and a remarkable life: Arvind Singh Mewar, the king of Mewar.
Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar, a member of the erstwhile royal family of Mewar and chairman of the HRH Group of Hotels, and descendant of Maharana Pratap, breathed his last on 16th March 2025 after a prolonged illness, at the age of 80. He completed his education from Senior Cambridge in 1961 from the Mayo College in Ajmer. He later went to Maharana Bhupal College, Udaipur where he got his BA in English literature, Economics, and Political Science.
He then went to the UK and USA to study hotel management. He studied a course in hotel management at Metropolitan College, St Albans, UK. After completing all his studies, he moved to Chicago USA in 1967, where he did a job combined training in hospitality services.

Arvind Singh Mewar was the father of three beautiful children, one son, Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, and two daughters, Bhargavi Kumari Mewar and Padmaja Kumari Parmer. He resided at Shambu Niwas at the city palace where he also received the treatment for his illness. He was the 76th custodian and played a vital role in preserving the culture and heritage of Udaipur and was also a Managing Trustee of Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF).
He has received various awards and recognition for his contributions to hospitality and tourism. He was also very abreast towards the need of continuously advancing and modernising the services at sanctuary resorts and palace-hotels.
For him, redefining heritage was his utmost priority to provide his guests with world class hospitality and comfort. He also had a keen interest in Aviation and was an avid pilot, who did solo flights in India on a microlite aircraft. His son who is a buoyant traveller, rational philosopher, and also a scientific sadhu, is now carrying his father’s legacy forward. He is a scion of the 1500 year-old House of Mewar in Udaipur. His evident commitment to social causes and welfare of the people, and awareness towards social issues like rural and urban population in the region is indeed remarkable.
He has conducted various campaigns to spread awareness in the field of education, health, environment and other social causes, in order to improve the standard of living and quality of life of the local people. To share the news of his father’s demise, Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar took to instagram with an emotional post showing a condolence message, stating the date and time of the final riots of his father.
The mortal remains of Arvind Singh Mewar are kept from 7:00 am onwards at the City Palace, for the public to come and pay their dues and homage to the departed soul, which will be followed by the funeral procession starting from Shambhu Palace and passing through Badi Pol, Jagdish Chowk, Ghantaghar, Bada Bazaar, and Delhi Gate, finally reaching Mahasatiya.
He was and always will be a remarkable personality in the minds and hearts of his family, his acts of charity are a valuable symbol of kindness.
