2. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

A bona fide testimonial of friendship and all things wanderlust, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ was truly one of Zoya Akthar’s finest works and was just the movie for the current generation, giving us major travel goals.

3. Rockstar

Imtiaz Ali and Ranbir Kapoor proved to be quite the collaboration when ‘Rockstar’ came out. A fervent anecdote of a passionate romance and aching heartbreak, the movie also stands out as a classic in terms of its songs and soundtracks. 

4. Barfi

‘Barfi’ was indeed a rollercoaster of a movie that has you feeling all the emotions and leaves you crying and laughing all in its duration. The performances by the actors and director were highly appreciated by everyone.

5. Kahaani

‘Kahaani’ was everything exactly what Bollywood generally steers clear from, a thriller with an only female lead. It served as a magnificent testament for the ultimate recipe for a good movie and that is a good story. 

6. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

It seems like the decade was all about Ranbir Kapoor taking the big screen by a storm. ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ emerged as the new age romantic drama for the new generation that redefined friendship and destination wedding goals.

7. Highway

‘Highway’ was the movie that redefined Alia for us and for herself too. Again a classic and enrapturing performance by the cast and the director and the story indeed had her hearts kidnapped.

8. Queen

‘Queen’ became the turning point in the career of Kangana Ranaut as the movie received tons of acclaims from critiques and veterans of Bollywood alike and of course, the audience too. It is that one go-to movie for any of your mood that you can enjoy anytime.

9. Masaan

‘Masaan’ was the adequate blend of everything good- good story, good music, good performances- and well, good looking Vicky Kaushal too.

10. Dil Dhadakne Do

Another one from Zoya Akhtar’s repertoire, Dil Dhadakne Do spoke volumes about the intricacies of the modern age families, with the apt dash of romance and entertainment. The star-laden cast delivered an impeccable performance and put up a great movie altogether.

 

11. Piku

A heartwarming and beautiful cinematic piece about the bitter but mostly sweet father-daughter relationship, Piku was not just a movie but an overall delightful experience.

12. Udta Punjab

‘Udta Punjab’ was definitely an exemplary piece that touched a really sensitive yet rarely talked about the issue of drug abuse which needed to be put out there. The beauty of the movie lies in the subtle yet emphatic presentation of the reality without exalting it.

13. Dangal

‘Dangal’ was one of the top-grossing commercial movies of the decade which not only earned big bucks but also hearts with its original & moving storyline along with spectacular performances by the debutants and the superstar himself.

14. Andhadhun

 

It was also quite the decade for our all-time talented cutie Ayushman Khurana, as he served us with some of his finest performances through the course of time with movies like ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘Article 15’ and another one being Andhadhun. The movie reinstilled our faith in the existence of good Hindi movies, which can be a thriller too.

15. Gully Boy

Zoya again with her finesse gave the decade a spectacular close with a movie like ‘Gully Boy’, which has also become Bollywood’s official entry for the Oscars. 2019 was all about the gully being in the limelight and it oozed of nothing but talent from left, right and centre.
