The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, organised by the Recording Academy on the eve of January 26, 2020, hit a heavy-hearted beginning as the hosts Lizzo and Alicia Keys paid tribute to basketball legend Kobe Bryant. It was a big night for 18-year-old pop star Billie Eilish who made history walking away with five awards including the big four categories, winning Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year. Lizzo, who was nominated for the most categories, won three awards. Lil Nas X was nominated for six categories and walked away with two wins.
Eilish had worked on her album, ‘When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ with her brother Finneas O’Connell who also won Producer of the Year and Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical). “Can I just say that I think Ariana deserves this?” Eilish said while accepting Album of the Year. She also became the first woman and second person ever to win Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist in the same year.
