Year 2020 has been the pandemic splodge in the whole world with COVID-19, an infectious disease that spreads primarily through contact with an infected person when they cough or sneeze. It also spreads when a person touches a surface or object that has the virus on it, then touches their eyes, nose or mouth. The disease causes respiratory illness with symptoms such as cough, fever and breathing difficulty. Being originated from Wuhan, China, Corona has drastically spread in countries such as France, USA, France, South Korea, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Netherlands and many more where the virus has entered into Phase-III leading to a heavy death toll. Whereas, India till reported with 400 cases is in Phase-II of the virus spread, for which the Indian government is taking serious initiatives to stop the outbreak.
On March 22, 2020 marking the remarkable day of JANTA CURFEW at 5 pm, the entire nation stepped out to their balconies to thank the medical professionals, doctors, nurses, and other responders for their implacable support during the COVID-19 crisis. After PM Narendra Modi’s initiative, Bollywood also thanked the people working tirelessly to fight the virus with “taalis and thaalis”,cheering the optimistic vibe of ringing bells, blowing conch shells, clanging of utensils, beating drums, etc.
From Ranveer Singh to Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar to Karan Johar, Amitabh Bachchan to Karishma Kapoor, Kiara Advani to Kartik Aryan, everyone made sure to actively participate in the nationwide community activity to thank the medical professionals and also to create awareness amongst the common mass to stay at home and stay safe at this rough patch of quarantine.Ranveer Singh shared a picture of his wife Deepika Padukone clapping. He wrote, “Thank you to all our heroes,” followed by clapping hands and Indian Tricolor emojis.
Karan Johar went up to his terrace with his mother and kids participating in the activity. He wrote on his Instagram, “That’s our family celebrating the unity of spirit and resilience! Today we also show tremendous gratitude to all members of the medical fraternity who have tirelessly and relentlessly worked towards healing the infected and protecting thousands of people from this dreaded virus.”
