This year, the iconic Swiss watchmaker Breitling is celebrating their 140th anniversary by releasing special editions of 3 classic watches.
Breitling was founded long back in 1884 and this year they have completed their 140 years of legacy. The luxury watches brand has decided to celebrate this special occasion by bringing back 3 of its most iconic and beloved watches. Renowned for innovation and significant milestones, Breitling launched the first chronograph wristwatch with an independent pusher in 1915. Two decades later, it patented a watch with a second independent pusher in 1934. One of the first automatic chronograph movements, the Chronomatic or Calibre 11, was created with Breitling’s participation in 1969.
The brand then released its first in-house-developed movement, the Calibre B01 in 2009. Today, the brand’s yet another important movement, the new Caliber B19 is making waves. The limited edition of 140 pieces each, these 140th-anniversary watches are equipped with Calibre B19, the first-ever exclusive perpetual calendar chronograph movement.
The Premier B19 Datora 42 140th Anniversary
Back in 1943, the Premier model debuted as “the gentlemen’s chronograph.” Signifying refined taste, the model served as a functional tool watch.
The latest edition of the Premier watch, The Premier B19 Datora 42 140th Anniversary is made with 18-karat red gold. The watch features Arabic numeral, signature square pushers and contrasting minutes scale. The black alligator leather strap has same-tone topstitching and an 18-karat gold folding buckle.
The Navitimer B19 Chronograph 43 Perpetual Calendar 140th Anniversary
The Navitimer model by Breitling was the first pilot’s watch to introduce a chronograph with the brand’s signature wrist-worn circular slide rule. Developed in 1952 for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association in 1962, this model was the first Swiss wristwatch in space.
The Navitimer B19 Chronograph 43 Perpetual Calendar 140th Anniversary has an 18-karat red-gold dial and a slide rule in black. The alligator leather strap has contrasting topstitching and an 18-karat gold folding buckle.
The Super Chronomat B19 44 Perpetual Calendar 140th Anniversary
In 1983, the Chronomat model was launched as the official watch of Italy’s aerobatics team, the Frecce Tricolori. Later Breitling offered the design to a wider customer, marking the restoration of the popularity of mechanical chronographs.
The Super Chronomat B19 44 Perpetual Calendar 140th Anniversary has four raised rider tabs at the 15-minute mark, an “onion” crown as well as a rubber version of the Chronomat’s classic Rouleaux bracelet. The luxury watch also features ceramic inserts and a skeletonised dial.
