Aditya Roy Kapur was born on 16th November 1985 in Mumbai, Maharashtra in a close-knit family of five – mother, father, two elder brothers and ‘Adi’ himself. His father, Roy Kapur was a producer and his mother, Salome Roy Kapur was a model. His brother, Siddharth Roy Kapur, is the chief executive officer of UTV Motion Pictures and the husband of phenomenal actress Vidya Balan. His second brother, Kunaal Roy Kapur, is also an astonishing actor. Kapur did his primary schooling at G D Somani Memorial School, Mumbai. The actor is an alumnus of St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. The multifaceted actor faced difficulty attaining excellence in his studies and was more inclined towards sports. This boy full of life loved playing guitar. Initially, Aditya Roy Kapur wanted to become a cricketer but destiny had something else planned for the charming actor which you can relish on the silver screen now. His family had good connections in the film industry but he never thought of venturing his career into the glamour business.

Kapur considers himself to be an accidental actor as he didn’t plan on taking the route to acting. Not so serious about his acting expeditions, Kapur said yes to his first role just because the character played guitar. Abiding by the mantra ‘go with the flow’, Kapur slowly and steadily put his foot in the show biz. Kapur embarked on his acting journey as a Video Jockey on the music channel ‘Channel V India’, where his comic timing and unique style of hosting were highly appreciated. He also hosted the popular show, India’s Hottest with VJ Bruna Abdullah till the year 2008. Kapur made his Hindi film debut with a supporting role in 2009 with the musical drama ‘London Dreams’ and shared the screen with versatile actors Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Asin Thottumkal. His series of supporting roles continued with two more films – ‘Action Replayy’ and ‘Guzaarish’. Kapur’s acting performances were critically acclaimed and were marked as vivacious. He fell in love with acting after his film ‘Guzaarish’. This film changed his thinking spectrum, he loved the process of acting and felt overwhelmed after the project was over. Kapur finally recognized his acting consciousness and started aspiring for his dream career.

The year 2013 paved a big break in Bollywood for Kapur with Rahul Jaykar’s film ‘Aashiqui 2’ co-starring Shraddha Kapoor. The film was a blockbuster hit on the silver screen and left all the lovers reminiscing about their true love. His phenomenal acting nuances and versatility were shown throughout the film. He received a lot of appreciation from film critics as well as his admirers as his depiction of the intense character was outstanding. Subsequently, he nailed another role in the romantic comedy-drama film ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ which is the highest-grossing film of his career.

After rising to the spotlight, Kapur gave scintillating performances in many films like ‘Daawat-e-Ishq’, ‘Fitoor’, ‘Ok Jaanu’, ‘Kalank’, ‘Malang’, ‘Sadak 2’, ‘Ludo’, ‘Rashtra Kavach Om’ and ‘Gumraah’ and showed his mettle. Although his family had a good bond with the star industry, Kapur did not have it served right on the platter. His commitment to work, love for his passion and hard work cemented him as a dynamic star.

Kapur once again became the talk of the town with his exceptional performance in the OTT series ‘Night Manager’ by Shaan Sengupta in 2023. He shared the screen space with the evergreen actor Anil Kapoor and the alluring actress Sobhita Dhulipala. He garnered a lot of recognition and glorious appreciation for his impeccable delivery of the character. Also, his admirers couldn’t stop drooling over his broody looks in the web series.
