Join the celebration of Indian rich heritage of fashion and couture with the 17th edition of FDCI India Couture Week
Finally! The wait is over. Dates for one of the most anticipated fashion events of the year, the FDCI India Couture Week is here and we can’t wait. Organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), with partnerships with Hyundai Motor India and Reliance Brands Ltd., the Fashion Gala is set to take place from July 24th to July 31st this year. The eight-day long prestigious event is going to grace the heart of the capital as it will be taking place at the Taj Palace and The Ashok, New Delhi.
FDCI is a non-profit organisation with the goal of furthering the cause of Indian fashion. Led by the head of the Council, Mr. Sunil Sethi, the council has transformed into a design powerhouse nurturing fresh talents and creating business opportunities for the designer members and their fashion brands. FDCI promotes more than 400 members, ensuring the sustainable growth of Fashion in India. Among their many crucial events throughout the year, Indian Couture Week or ICW is one of the most anticipated affairs. Fashion lovers all over the country await the week to learn the latest happenings in the couture world.
The realm of Indian couture is explored and exhibited every year at the most anticipated FDCI India Couture Week, with the presence of talented fashion designers from the vast pool of talent in this country showcasing their finest designs on the runway and A-list celebrities adding stars to the grace of the event. This fashion gala gives us a glimpse of our finest couturiers’ latest glamorous collections that will be dominating the cover pages and red carpet throughout the year. And proudly may I add, not only in Indian media, this glorious run of couture continues in international magazines and events too.
This year, it will be the 17th annual edition of the event, promising the same exquisite representation of the rich cultural heritage of Indian Fashion. The aim of this fashion week is not only to host designers and celebrate their artistic vision but also to showcase collections that will inspire and initiate new trends in the fashion world. Like every other year, the spotlight will be on the timeless beauty and cultural significance of the handcrafted couture in our country.
Indian Couture Week is a way to take the luxury of Indian textile and craftsmanship to the next level and ultimately reach an audience worldwide. And to achieve that global recognition, the fashion shows will be telecasted live on FDCI digital platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and the official website.
After last year’s successful run of putting on outstanding shows for ten days continuously, covered by hundreds of news media, this year’s Indian Couture Week promises the same level of exceptional display of fashion from design houses and brands. With tastefully integrated rich costumes and opulent set designs, the 16th edition of India Couture Week was a vision to watch. Last year’s show kicked off with designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacocks’ show, where they showcased mystified bold and ballet in the collection “Renaissance Reverie.” Actress Kiara Advani brought elegance and grace on the runway on the very first day of the fashion week.
The artisanal creativity was at the forefront of the event with Anamika Khanna where the designer put on a display of structured drapes, and Rimzim Dadu displaying lyrical fluidity through her designs. The show featuring the “Hiranyagarbha” collection by Gaurav Gupta made a lot of headlines with actress Janvi Kapoor gracing the runway for him. Designer Ritu Kumar’s show narrated the story of the undeniable charm of opulence and tradition of India, while designers Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna brought sultry glam in the dramatic shades of silver and black to their show.
We expect nothing less than exceptional fashion shows during these eight weeks at Taj Palace and Ashok, New Delhi. We are ready to witness the sheer brilliance of our fashion frontiers and celebrate our textile with FDCI India Couture Week, 2024.
