No matter how messy or unorganised you are as a person, the one place you should never ever keep dirty is your kitchen. That’s just unhealthy and dangerous. But that also does not mean you need to spend hours cleaning your kitchen everyday. All you need to do is break it down and find the easiest and quickest approach. And as always, we’ve got you covered with these easy hacks, so you can finally stop worrying about your messy kitchen and become a pro at keeping it all spick and span.

Assign A Place For Everything

While keeping spices, oils and kitchen tools near the stove sounds like a great idea for easy access, it does more harm than good. Firstly, the heat reduces the expiry date of oils and spices tremendously, making them stale. Plus, a lot of oil splatters onto them while you’re cooking. Which is why the best place to store such items is away from the stove. You can take them out only when required and put them back in their place when they are used. This way, cleaning up also becomes easier and quicker.

Junk Under The Sink

Keeping your trash can out of sight can help you in keeping it out of mind. Nobody likes garbage can sitting in the kitchen, even if it’s in a corner. You can put it under the sink to avoid the mess and odour. And not just the trash, you can store your dish soap, sponges and gloves under the sink also, to give your kitchen a neat look.

Clean While Waiting

Use your “waiting for water to come to a boil” time wisely. Instead of standing around, staring at your cooking pot, start cleaning up whatever you can. Start by putting things that you are done using in their places. Wipe off stains or spills during this break if you cannot wipe them right away. This way you don’t have to spend a lot of time cleaning up everything at once at the end.

Keep Your Fridge Minimal

Don’t be a hoarder! Keep cleaning up your fridge twice a week at least and throw out what has gone bad. A lot of times you may find yourself with fresh groceries or leftovers in your hand, trying to find a place for it in your jam-packed fridge. Make a habit of keeping some clear spots in your fridge to avoid going through this trauma.

Don’t Crowd The Counter

The clearer, the better. Your kitchen counter should have only those things that cannot go anywhere else except the counter—like your stove. Put your mixer, bowls, and other items away in a cabinet or cupboard and take them out only when required. Because the spots that you can’t see are usually the spots you miss out while cleaning. And keeping unnecessary appliances on the counter will take up a lot of space which may not be cleaned as regularly as it should be.
