Day 3 of Lakmé Fashion Week proved that bridal fashion will continue to be in popular demand, no matter the size of the celebration. Designers put their bridal best forward on day three of the fashion week.
Monica Shah & Karishma Swali
The designers drew inspiration from their own experiences – as brides full of hope and dreams. Combined with their love for fabricating designs that encapsulated the excitement and thrill of the new beginnings. The collection was a subtle invitation to look beyond the grey clouds and revel in the silver linings. The colours used were lush and enchanting – berries, reds, pinks. Vibrant tones that symbolize joy, excitement, and hopefulness.
They used Kasab and lace to curate intricately handcrafted designs, textured skirts, antique silver thread-work jackets, and elegant blouses that gave a twist to the traditional splendour with a global perspective. Each ensemble was further underscored using masterfully crafted accessories like silver bibs, Ek Taar belts, embellished mules, and cross-body sling bags.
Mishru
Mishru’s autumn/winter 2020 collection for Lakmé fashion week, ‘The Lost Summer’, delved deep into the reservoir of memories and captured it through decadent finishing touches that came in the form of intricate embroidery. Fuss-free, contemporary Indian silhouettes such as pre-draped saris, lehengas, coordinated sets, jackets, corsets, jumpsuits and gowns dominated the lineup. Pastel blue, rose pink and mint were some of the hues prominent on the shade card.
Amit Aggarwal
For Lakmé Fashion Week 2020, Amit Aggarwal collection ‘FirstLight’— took inspiration from the cosmos and its stars that always surround us. He brought together fabrics like Chanderi and matka silk. There was leheriya, which is meant to denote the linearity and movement of the orbits. Temple motifs from south India were mixed with polymer in interesting collages.
