Twenty-year celebratory festivities of Wedding Affair touched new heights of extolment as the entire camaraderie of wedding planners, hospitality connoisseurs and travel industry bigwigs joined them. A spirited harvest of the collaborative efforts of Tourism Malaysia and Wedding Affair was witnessed by the stalwarts of the wedding fraternity as they made their way to attend the WAGabfest — MALAYSIA WEDDING CONCLAVE — in New Delhi on September 26, 2019. This was to promote Malaysia as the ideal location for destination weddings. The High Commissioner of Malaysia to India – His Excellency (H.E.) Dato’ Hidayat Abdul Hamid chaired the conclave. The Director of Tourism Malaysia New Delhi – Sulaiman Bin Suip, Editor-In-Chief of Wedding Affair – Rajnish Rathi and the distinguished wedding planners and event managers were among the attendees.

The event commenced with the warm greetings shared among the friends and fraternity of the wedding industry. The traditional Malaysian music and dance by the Sarawak cultural troop kept the atmosphere lively and going throughout. With his opening note, Rathi commenced the celebratory evening by welcoming the gathering to the business conclave.

H.E. Dato’ Hidayat Abdul Hamid, with his thanks note, invited and explained the potential of Malaysia as the perfect wedding destination in his speech. The informative session by Sulaiman Bin Suip, the Director of Tourism Malaysia, with his thorough detailing and enlightening videos about the cultures, hospitality and gastronomy in Malaysia, explained the various possibilities of doing Indian Weddings in Malaysia.

Owing to the 20 years’ celebrations of the inception of Wedding Affair, various gifts were distributed among the attendees by drawing lots from their visiting cards. The cheerful crowd responded to the proceedings with utmost warmth for the 20 years of success of Wedding Affair. The eager gathering made the event a great success by equally participating in the traditional Malaysian dances and interactive sessions.

“There is no other culture that celebrates weddings like the Indians do! This sector has experienced tremendous growth as almost everyone desires to elevate the scale of their special celebration. Here, Malaysia offers a huge potential as a wedding destination,” said H.E. Abdul Hamid.

In his presentation, Bin Suip acquainted the audience with lucrative entry options in Malaysia, presence of expedient luxury resorts and hotels, exotic beach-and-sand destinations, delectable local food and beverages coupled with rewarding prices and support from Tourism Malaysia.

“This indeed gives us immense pleasure and honour to work with Tourism Malaysia in organising this event and to promote Malaysia as the perfect wedding destination. This country indeed offers all the ingredients we vie for in a Big Fat Indian Wedding. We hope that this initiative will definitely increase the number of Indian weddings in Malaysia,” Rathi said in his closing note while also thanked the fellowship of the wedding industry present to make the celebration of 20 years a successful one.

The swarm of wedding planners and event managers headed to the stage to congratulate Rathi on the exceptional feat of completion of 20 years of Wedding Affair. Best wishes, compliments and business engagements kept cascading as the gathering met for dinner and drinks post the event.
