Tourism Malaysia Promotes The Country As Perfect Destination For Weddings

MALAYSIA WEDDING CONCLAVE, which was organised by Tourism Malaysia in association with  Wedding Affair Magazine in New Delhi on September 26, 2019 to highlight the exceptional potential of Malaysia as the ideal wedding destination. The High Commissioner of Malaysia to India – His Excellency (H.E.) Dato’ Hidayat Abdul Hamid chaired the conclave. The Director of Tourism Malaysia New Delhi – Sulaiman Bin Suip, Editor-In-Chief of Wedding Affair – Rajnish Rathi and the distinguished  Wedding Planners and Event Managers were among the attendees.

A blast of traditional Malaysian music and dance by the cultural troupe, ushering the High Commissioner, inaugurated the wedding conclave with utmost cheer. As an opening note, Rajnish Rathi welcomed the fraternity and guests and introduced the ‘Malaysia Wedding Conclave’ to the gathering. H.E. Dato’ Hidayat Abdul Hamid, with thanks note invited and explained the potential of Malaysia as the perfect wedding destination in his speech.

The informative sessions by Mr Sulaiman Bin Suip, the Director of Tourism Malaysia, with his thorough detailing and enlightening videos about the cultures, hospitality and gastronomy in Malaysia explained the various possibilities of doing Indian Weddings in Malaysia.

The exclusive event was attended by almost all the major Indian wedding planners from North India.  Representatives from Malaysian hotels, resorts and airlines interacted with the wedding planners in a special B2B session. Among the attendees of the B2B session were organisations in the likes of AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, IndiGo, Marriott, Shangri-la, Eventza Event Master, Swiss Garden and many more.

 “There is no other culture that celebrates weddings like the Indians do! Millions of weddings take place in this market, annually. This sector has experienced tremendous growth as almost everyone desires to elevate the scale of their special celebration. Here, Malaysia offers a huge potential as a wedding destination. As the tagline rightly states, ‘Love in India, Marry in Malaysia’, the wedding conclave showcases Malaysia as a perfect wedding destination with many magnificent hotels and resorts,” said H.E. Dato’ Hidayat Abdul Hamid.

In his presentation Sulaiman Bin Suip acquainted the audience with lucrative entry options in Malaysia, presence of expedient luxury resorts and hotels, exotic beach-and-sand destinations, delectable local food and beverages coupled with rewarding prices and support from Tourism Malaysia. The availability of Temples, Gurudwaras, and even elephants to horses, Malaysia has it all — he explained. Talking about the Indian food and all types of international cuisine blended with local Malaysian cuisines, he added that the possibilities were unlimited. 

 “This indeed gives us immense pleasure and honour to work with Tourism Malaysia in organising this event and to promote Malaysia as the perfect wedding destination. This country indeed offers all the ingredients we vie for in a Big Fat Indian Wedding. Laced with scenic beauty, airfares, travel time, visa charges waiver, competitive prices of hotels and resorts, all these factors position Malaysia as the desirable wedding destination. We hope that this initiative will definitely increase the number of Indian weddings in Malaysia,” Rajnish Rathi said in his closing note.

A 20-member dance cultural troupe from Malaysia illuminated the event with the colours of Malaysia by their vibrant dance and music. The troupe was sponsored by the Sarawak Tourism, Arts & Cultural Ministry to showcase enticing Malaysian dance forms and traditional music instruments. The dance forms presented were — Ngajat Lesong, Bidayuh, Melanau, and Kanjet Ngeleput. Sarawak, being the largest state in Malaysia nurtures something fascinating and mystical in itself. It is one of the two states on the island of Borneo and also a home to UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The event was received with a lot of enthusiasm by the attendees, businesses and wedding fraternity. The one-on-one interactive session after the event also narrated the success story of the business interactions. It is hoped that as a harvest to the event, Malaysia will nurture great business from the Indian fraternity.
