Fragment Design crafts the latest TAG Heuer x Fragment Design Heuer 02. The design uses a 44 mm diameter stainless steel Heuer C-case from the 1960s and 1970s. Interestingly, the case exists in the current catalogue for the Formula 1 collection which all feature calibre 16 chronograph movements. These are outsourced as opposed to the elevated Heuer 02 manufacture movement found inside the latest Fragment Design Special Edition. Where the first collaboration was more classic in its design, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 boasts more wrist presence with a sporty appeal. Borrowing cues from TAG Heuer’s C-Case from the ’60s and ’70s, the Formula 1 is a fitting watch for motor-racing enthusiasts with its hits of red marking the indices, hands and on the sapphire crystal display window — two lightning bolts along with the red tint allow you to see just enough of TAG Heuer’s in-house Heuer 02 movement. Hiroshi Fujiwara’s design combines a ceramic tachymeter bezel with a red-accented dial and a red sapphire crystal case-back, which offers a view onto the Caliber Heuer 02 column-wheel chronograph with vertical clutch. His design channels the energy of Heuer’s 1970s classics but with modern updates.
