The Sarees
Many of the Bohemian sarees by Sabyasachi are all about earthy shades accentuates by delicate embroidery. And printed aesthetics and contrasting blouses highlight the beauty of the latest sarees by the designer. Look at this printed khadi and tulle ruffled saree with embroidery details. This comes with a printed and embroidered blouse and is a must-have this season. Also, the earthy reds, browns and golden of the saree speak of subtlety and class of the adorner. The flower prints beautify both the palla and the pleats of the saree without stealing the thunder of its embroidery and colours.
The other great piece in the latest collection is this beautiful printed saree. The classy printed khadi saree shines with its embroidered details. It pairs up seamlessly with a printed and embroidered blouse. Hence, the off-white, wine and brown details create the brilliance in this saree. “We always use our instinct when it comes to creating trends for the wedding season. The internet makes this easier for us, of course. Also, I’m a voracious consumer of Instagram. We understand the market pulse by reading people’s comments, and this helps keep us relevant,” Sabyasachi Mukherjee once told Vogue in an interview.
Aakash Tara Sarees
Then there is a whole range of shimmery sarees that exude jazzy glamour. “Growing up, I was fascinated by the nightlife in Calcutta, the legendary bars and restaurants on Park Street—Trincas, Blue Fox, Peter Cat, Mocambo, and the groovy nightclub at the Oberoi, Pink Elephant. Calcutta had a truly cosmopolitan atmosphere, where every night glamour came out in its full glory,” the designer’s social media states.
“For me, the standouts were the women with heavily kohled eyes and lacquered hair, wearing glittering saris with sexy sleeveless blouses and handcrafted Bengali diamond jewellery, probably inspired by Aparna Sen, and Sharmila Tagore in An Evening in Paris. Featured here are the brand’s iconic ‘Aakash-tara’ saris, completely hand embroidered using zardozi technique on the finest of chiffons, in an arresting pop of colours,” it further explains.
Bohemian Lehengas
Sabyasachi also recommends a bohemian lehenga for the most intimate of weddings. The sheer lightness and the playfulness of the lehengas make them perfect for a summer or monsoon weddings. Also, this one is a hand-painted and printed Indian pure silk lehenga. The number pairs with the brand’s iconic ‘Akash-tara’ dupatta. The dupatta itself has a meticulous hand embroidery using ‘zardozi technique’ on pure chiffon.
