While we are all waiting for the new year, another thing that we are extremely excited to witness is Netflix original’s Ghost Stories. It has been one and a half year since we saw ace directors Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap come together and take over Netflix with their film Lust Stories. And now, they are all set to reunite for a Netflix film with a genre that they have not explored before. The film is co-produced by Ashi Dua and Ronnie Screwala’s RSVP Pictures under her banner, Flying Unicorn Entertainment.
The new anthology film will release on Netflix on January 1, 2020. Along with the first look and trailer, the quartet of filmmakers released a video announcing the release date.
The directors have roped in a riveting star cast; Janhvi Kapoor, Shobhita Dhulipala, Mrunal Thakur, Vijay Varma, Pavail Gulati, Raghuvir Yadav, Avinash Tiwary, Gulshan Devaiah, Surekha Sikri, Sukant Goel and Kusha Kapila, for their upcoming venture. Horror is not an area that these directors have laid their hands on. It will be interesting to watch what they have in their kitty for us.
The trailer is quite promising. It is not something that you would have expected out of a horror film as Hindi horror films generally turn out to be a disappointment for the audience. Without all the screaming and shouting, the trailer managed to send chills down our spine. Each character as they appear on the screen with their story gives goosebumps. The opening scene of marriage spreads an eeriness in the atmosphere that continues throughout the trailer.
