With her skin glowing, a smile that reflects her happiness is possibly the most beautiful vision of women on her special day. The priceless natural radiance that comes from within is never entirely cosmetic. Instead it mirrors a harmony of emotional and physical health. Ironically, the toil that goes into striking that healthy charm is often downplayed in the hustle and bustle of weddings. As a result, we bring you five herbs based easy-peasy mask recipes to spice up your beauty factor for that healthy-dewy glow you can flaunt on any occasion.

Moringa Mask

Derived from the Drumstick or the horseradish tree, the Moringa leaves are a confluence of healthy antioxidants and bioactive plant compounds. Native to North India, the leaves not only balances hormones in the body when consumed as a tea, but also its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial capability speeds up the healing process of the body.

Process:

Make a moringa mask by adding water to moringa powder and applying it over the face. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with cold water and moisturize.

Saffron Mask

Saffron has been used since time immemorial for its therapeutic effects. A herb that was a part of the beauty regimen of queens and princesses, is known worldwide for its cell formation and repair properties. Difficult to procure in its authentic form, deep red strands with orange tips that release a pleasant aroma upon soaking are the best kind.

Process:

Soak some strands of saffron in water overnight (a little raw milk can also be added). Apply the mixture all over the face using a cotton ball for better blood circulation. Let it sit for 15 minutes and rinse off.

Holy Basil Mask

Known as the ‘Plant of Deities’ in Hindu mythology, Holy Basil controls oil secretion, tightens skin and repairs epidermal damage.

Process:

Mix grounded Basil leaves with enough milk to form a thick paste. Apply it on the face and let it sit for 15- 20 minutes before scrubbing it off.

Turmeric Mask

One of the most extensively used herbs in Indian cuisine and rituals, beauty enthusiasts swear by this bright yellow herb that fights free radical damage and reduces melanin production for a brighter looking skin.

Process:

Add two tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice to one tablespoon organic turmeric. Mix well to form an even paste. Apply it over the face using applicator brush avoiding eye areas. Leave it on for 10- 15 minutes before rinsing it out with lukewarm water. Pat dry your skin and moisturize.

Nutmeg Mask

Nourishing the skin from within, Nutmeg is known to tackle pimple, scars, burns and so on for a brighter complexion.

Process:

Mix together one tablespoon of nutmeg powder with milk and saffron strands (until completely blended). Apply a coat on the face and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse off. Definite and distinctive results can be seen with regular weekly usage of these masks for at least two months.
