From design lovers to wedding fashion enthusiasts, FDCI’s Hyundai India Couture Week 2024 had innovative and ethereal ensembles for all kinds of brides and grooms.
In association with Reliance Brands, ICW 2024 took place from 24th July 2024 to 31st July 2024. Like every year pristine craftsmanship, innovative design and home-grown talent were given the centre stage at the event. The 17th edition of India Couture Week was held at two locations in New Delhi, The Taj Palace and The Ashok, with 14 esteemed Indian couture designers presenting their designs.
ASAL & MARD by Abu Sandeep
ICW 2024 opened with Abu Sandeep’s ASAL & MARD collection inspired by the Indian rajas and rajkumaris. Bollywood actors Wamiqa Gabbi and Taha Shah Badushah turned showstoppers for the collection in a red Lehenga from the ‘Bridal Gota’ collection and brocade pants with a dramatic textile drape and zardozi belt.
Roseroom by Isha Jajodia
Roseroom by Isha Jajodia presented the collection ‘Art of Eternity’, inspired by French architectural landmarks. Actress Jacqueline Fernandez turned muse for the collection in a black strapless gown with a lace-detailed sheer cape. Ranbir Kapoor’s sister and famous jewellery designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahni also walked for the designer in an exquisite ivory lehenga and pearl studs.
Nazm by Suneet Varma
Suneet Varma’s love for the music of the 70s and 80s led him to creating the collection ‘Nazm’. The showcase began with a poem written and recited by the designer’s mother, giving off a poetic start.
Caligula’s Feast by Siddharth Tytler
Couturier Siddharth Tytler’s collection was all about Roman royalty with jewel tones, drapery and armour inspired creations, effortlessly achieving the regal look. Bollywood actors Malaika Arora and Rahul Khanna walk the runway for renowned designer in glittering black ensembles.
Sehra by Kunal Rawal
Kunal Rawal took a walk back to the Indian wedding and celebrations with his collection ‘Sehra’ featuring traditional menswear and craftsmanship. The designer’s muse was actor Aditya Roy Kapur who dazzled the show in a navy blue sherwani and black patiala.
La Vie En Rose by Dolly J
Newlywed Sonakshi Sinha stunned the show in a blush pink gown with off-the-shoulder cape sleeves and a thigh-high slit for designer Dolly J’s feminine and powerful collection, ‘La Vie En Rose’.
Muraqqa by JJ Valaya
Inspired by the cities of Isfahan, Istanbul and Delhi, the Muraqqa collection had all the bohemian vibes you have been searching for. With traditional embroidery techniques and prints reflecting the designer’s signature royal and art deco influences, an experimental bride will find heaven in this collection.
Antevorta by Amit Aggarwal
Couturier Amit Aggarwal brought in a new wave in wedding fashion with his collection which explored the profound connection between time and the universe. Inspired by the Roman goddess of the future, the outfits featured embroidered tessellations and metallic polymer strips with theatrics like mesh masks, hair wraps, hoods and unique braids hairstyles.
Nargis by Rahul Mishra
Inspired by the Mughal Garden, the outfits highlighted traditional embroidery and craftsmanship with majestic cultural motifs of natural elements. Actress Lisa Ray turned muse for the designer in an ivory and gold-toned saree gown with gold-toned floral embellished appliques and a peacock-themed train.
Evocative Nawabi Canvas by Jayanti Reddy
Comprising 40 seminal looks with a variety of lehengas, shararas, gowns, and sherwanis in colours like pastels, red, black and pink, the collection was inspired by Hyderabadi Nawabs. Heeramandi charm Aditi Rao Hydari was the showstopper in a gold contemporary sharara set and a statement choker necklace from Kishandas Jewellery.
Arunodaya by Gaurav Gupta
Taking inspiration from the early dawn, the designer made use of serene tones like white, ivory pearl, comet blue, petal pink, to form the colour palette to bring the narrative to life. Archies actors Khushi Kapoor and Vedang Raina turned showstoppers for Gaurav Gupta at the ICW 2024. Khushi donned a sand-hued outfit including a fitted mermaid skirt and an off-shoulder blouse with sleeves, paired with a shoulder cape, while Vedang looked regal in a black velvet long jacket.
Stucco by Rimzim Dadu
During the Pearl academy presents Rimzim Dadu show, the runway was adorned with statues inspired by European Baroque architecture and Stucco art. The designer blended the contemporary and the history with fine craftsmanship. Actress Shobhita Dhulipala graced the ramp in an ivory off-shoulder bralette with a straight-fit maxi skirt embellished with fringe.
Outworldly by Tarun Tahiliani
Couturier Tarun Tahiliani enchanted his fans with the collection ‘Outworldly’, aimed at blending comfort with couture. The colour palette included ivory, pastels, black and lots of red, lace and sheer fabrics, with bling and intricacy dominating the collection. The outfits featured traditional embroideries like kashidakari, mukaish, chikankari.
Rang Mahal by Falguni Shane Peacock
Inspired by the regal aspects of India’s royal heritage, the capsule collection displayed a range of exquisite Indian traditional outfits with majestic cultural symbols such as animals, palaces, diyas, sitar, Taj Mahal and more. Bollywood actors Rashmika Mandanna and Vicky Kaushal closed the show in an ivory-coloured lehenga and a dreamy cream-coloured sherwani.
