ICW 2024 Day 2: Isha Jajodia and Suneet Varma Dazzle the Stage

Day 2 of ICW 2024 saw Indian couture designers Isha Jajodia and Suneet Varma presenting exotic wedding fashion collections while Jacqueline Fernandez and Riddhima Sahni shined as showstoppers.

FDCI’s Hyundai India Couture Week 2024 began with a bang on July 24, 2024. The first day featured a debut of the collection “ASAL and Mard” by prominent Indian couture designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. On the second day, exotic collections by renowned couture designers Isha Jajodia and Suneet Varma were on show. While Roseroom by Isha Jajodia was showcased at the Shah Jehan Hall at the Taj Palace, Suneet Varma showcased his collection at the Durbar Hall of the same venue.

The Collections

Roseroom by Isha Jajodia presented the collection ‘Art of Eternity.’ Inspired by French architectural landmarks and the lavish elegance of Versailles, the designs blended artisanal heritage with modern feminine strength. Using delicate lace patterns, luxurious fabrics and botanical motifs, the collection captured the essence of a fairytale romance.

Adorned with intricate embroidery, beadwork, and applique Roseroom by Isha Jajodia celebrated nature and timeless craftsmanship at ICW 2024. “The ‘Art of Eternity’ collection holds deep personal significance for me. It beautifully merges the timeless elegance of French architecture with intricate floral motifs and traditional Indian craftsmanship. The result is an effortlessly sophisticated aesthetic that evokes both romance and refinement.,” explained Isha when asked about her collection.

Nazm by Suneet Varma

Suneet Varma on the other hand presented his collection, ‘Nazm’. Inspired by the songs of the 70s and 80s, the collection featured intricate embellishments and elegant fabrics used to create designs that are a blend of tradition and modernity.

With gold and silver three-dimensional embroidery, featuring abstract floral patterns, foil appliqué work and unique silhouettes, the collection was a true celebration of Indian wedding couture. Explaining his collection, the designer said, “It’s inspired by music from the seventies and eighties in particular since that’s the era I grew up in and have always loved. My mother is a poet and writer, very well-known and prolific, so that’s the atmosphere I’ve grown up in. That is something I cannot tear away from; it will always stay with me.”

The Showstoppers

Jacqueline Fernandez Riddhima Kapoor Sahni

Popular Bollywood Actress Jacqueline Fernandez turned showstopper for Roseroom by Isha Jajodia in a black strapless gown encrusted with shimmer, sequins and a dramatic train. Complementing the outfit was a lace-detailed sheer cape, adding a regal and dramatic touch. The designer styled the outfit with a diamond-laden necklace that shone from a distance, a bedazzled watch and a statement cocktail ring that matched steps with the statement accessory adorning her neckline.

Expressing her elation over the opportunity the actress commented: “So, it felt like a dream, honestly speaking, because I really, really love her work. It resonated with my fashion aesthetic. Her designs are romantic and feminine yet they have a subdued power.”

Additionally, Ranbir Kapoor’s sister and famous jewellery designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahni also turned a muse for the designer in an exquisite ivory lehenga and pearl studs.

The Success

ICW 2024 India Couture Week

With glorious designs for both Indian and Western wear, Isha Jajodia and Suneet Varma greeted wedding enthusiasts with tons of options for the upcoming wedding season. With a blend of tradition, modernity and innovation they have brought in the ‘new’ to Indian wedding fashion. Both the shows were met with resounding success.

Isha Jajodia styled her designs with jewellery from DiaColor and created a romantic set-up in the showcase with romantic English ballads. Suneet Varma presented his designs on a moonlit runway and accessorised his outfits with jewellery from Raniwala1881. His show opened with a nazm spoken by his mother Indira Verma, setting the tone for the nostalgic collection.

With elite craftsmanship, unique designs, and innovative presentation, Day 2 of ICW 2024 showcased the old and new Indian wedding fashion in all its grandeur.
