Pearl Academy presents the couturier Rimzim Dadu show took place on Day 7 of ICW 2024. The ace couturier’s collection titled ‘Stucco’ was presented on the grey and white runway adorned with statues inspired by European Baroque architecture and Stucco art known for its intricate detailing and sculptural qualities. Inspired by the Baroque architecture spread across Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries, the couturier tried to capture the essence of Baroque designs in her couture collection.

Metal draped skirts, cord-weaved bustiers, capes that echo Baroque architecture and one-shoulder draped tops with sculpted metallic cords are a few of the key silhouettes the collection comprises. Using beadwork, metallic threads, steel wires, traditional zardozi and stucco work; the designer blended the contemporary and the history with fine craftsmanship. Dominated by deep ruby reds, antique golds, and burnt oranges, the collection also included menswear in sherwanis and tuxedos.

I visualised this collection as a celebration of craftsmanship and the tactile beauty of materials. I wanted to bring the depth and texture of stucco to fabric, creating pieces that are both architectural and wearable. The idea was born from my fascination with historical stucco techniques and my desire to translate that into contemporary couture,” said Rimzim while explaining her collection.

Shobhita opted for minimal accessories to style the outfit with a chic choker necklace and diamond stud earrings.

The designer partnered with Narayan Jewels to beautifully accessorise her creations with eye-catching jewellery. With baroque-inspired music and stunning outfits which are a blend of modern designs and historical creations, the showcase was a resounding success.

Some of the most prominent accessories were dazzling headgear or matha pattis, small bags and belts. The soundtrack of the show, curated by Jayant Arora, mixed Indian music with global influences, with tracks from Mughal-e-Azam to Amy Winehouse.

In a monumental decision, the designer chose to present his collection twice as during the first time, as 300 notable personalities from the fashion and entertainment industry were unable to find seating in the venue.
