Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) unveiled India’s largest skilling centre in Goa, located at Aguada Plateau.
India’s largest hospitality company, Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), has unveiled the country’s largest skilling centre in Goa, located on the Aguada Plateau. The announcement was made during the 50th-anniversary celebrations of Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa, Goa, by the Minister of Tourism of the Government of Goa, Rohan Khaunte.
Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO of IHCL said that the main reason behind this initiative of starting a skilling centre is to meet the growing demand for a skilled workforce in the travel and tourism sector. He expressed, “The skilling centre located on the Aguada plateau will address the critical need for a skilled workforce to support the travel and tourism sector. This capability-building initiative will leverage the untapped talent and bridge the employability gap in the sector.”

Rohan Khaunte, Minister of Tourism, Government of Goa, also mentioned the natural talent pool of the state’s civilians for hospitality. He said, “Goans have a natural flair for hospitality, and as tourism continues to evolve, skilling, reskilling and upskilling are the need of the hour. Goa, as the count ..Goa, as the country’s premier leisure & MICE destination, has always been at the heart of tourism.”
Further, he added that this initiative will also help in creating job opportunities that will support the state’s vision for sustainable growth in the tourism sector. “By fostering essential skilling programs, this effort embraces our principles of regenerative tourism, ensuring sustainable development while empowering local communities, and enabling them to build successful careers right here in Goa.”

IHCL continues to invest in talent development under its ESG+ framework of Paathya, with 38 skilling centres across the country.
