Organized by the top fashion body of the country, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the 33 edition of the Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2019 (LMIFWAW’19) commenced on March 13 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the National Capital on an eco-friendly note. With 25 runway shows and 100 designers exhibiting, event churns out new fashion trends every year to be consumed by the followers. To pay homage to sari this year, FDCI started a #SixYardsOf campaign asking women to share their pictures in saris on social media, with some of the ingenious designers of the country coming gearing-up with their own interpretations for the finale.

The LMIFWAW’19 in association with Liva has advanced the notion of sustainable green fashion and conscious consumption. Shalini James, Sahil Kochhar, Rina Dhaka and Samant Chauhan presented their lines in eco-friendly sustainable fabric for the Liva Eco Green Heart Show, the opening show for LMIFW AW’19 amidst a set up of trees and sound of birds chirping in the background. Showcasing his collection ‘Hridya’ for Liva Eco, Sahil Kochhar incorporated environment-friendly fabrics in a gamut of colours ranging from pastel pink, pristine ivory to bold mustard and deep blue-invoking a new wave of high-end streetwear.

Exhibiting playfulness, Suket Dhir’s latest collection was a blend of quirk and structure as he conveyed his idea of ‘He for She’, menswear silhouettes for women through his line.

FDCI joining hands with the Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Kailash Satyarthi to pledge against Child Labour was the highlight of the event.
