The 32 edition of India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019 commenced on October 10, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. The fashion gala has been organized by The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) in association with NEXA and Lotus Makeup as its leading sponsors. It is a B2C event, a mixture of trade and fashion. A unique concept of ‘Designer Stockroom’ has been enabled for the designers to sell their old as well new stock directly to the customers. This year India Fashion Week has opened itself as a platform to many new designers across the country. Around 120 designers will participate in the fashion week including Anavila, Arjun Khanna, Arjun Saluja, Ashish N Soni, Atsu, Dev r Nil, Dhruv Kapoor, 11:11 / Eleven Eleven, Gaurav Gupta, Huemn, Ikai by Ragini Ahuja, Kiran Uttam Ghosh, Kommal Sood, Lovebirds and Manish Malhotra to name a few.
The event kick-started with Aneeth Arora’s opening show presenting the ensembles of her label “Pero”; followed by a display of several Australian emerging collection labels like “Cassandra Harper” and “Romance was born”. This year’s theme is inclusively all about imperfections whether in terms of weight, the colour of your skin or the choice and gender of your partner. FDCI has given the liberty to 40 designers across the country to interpret and present their ensembles inspired from the ‘Rainbow’ theme in support of the LGBTQ Community.
