Luxurious And Festive – Day 1 At Lakmé Fashion Week

The 20th edition of Lakmé Fashion Week has painted the ‘city of dreams’ in all sorts of colours of glitz and glamour. The streets buzzing with uber-chic fashion enthusiasts from around the country, front rows adorned with A-list celebrities, and ramps spilt with the colours of the creations by the top designers in the country, this top fashion event of the nation has already created a lot of buzz around the art of clothing.

The mellifluent presentation of the pieces of art was kicked off by Manish Malhotra’s designs. The models flowed in the daintily decorated set-up, adorned with the designer’s luxury festive edit ‘Maahrumysha’ that resonated with the background tunes of ‘Chhap Tilak’ and ‘Mera Piya Ghar Aaya.’ The gorgeous Katrina Kaif, acting as the showstopper of the shimmery and jazzy collection, sizzled on the ramp in deep night-blue velvet lehenga with gold embroidery, revealing V-neck choli, and theatrical ruffled sleeves that flowed at the back.

The gilded attendant’s section included celebrities like Ishaan Khatter, Khushi Kapoor, Athiya Shetty, Karan Johar, Sophie Choudry, Karisma Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Dia Mirza, Chitrangda Singh, among others.

The show opened with ‘Gen Next’ designers’ presentation which included promising designers such as Sahib Bhatia, Gaurav Singh, Ankita Srivastava, Akanksha Aggarwal, Manjushree Saikia, and Stanzin Palmo. Sahib Bhatia’s collection was named ‘Amaare’, Gaurav Singh presented his collection ‘Anatomy’, whose designs drew inspiration from ‘Kadali-Patram.’

Shibani Dandekar and Farhan Akhtar entered the ramp with the scent of love, walking for designer Payal Singhal’s collection inspired by gipsies and bohemia. The couple looked chirpy and elegant in the refreshing their off-white ethnic outfits with bright pink and blue accents. The pom-pom and tassel addition to the outfits rendered the fun vibe to their outfits. Designer Pallavi Mohan also presented her collection named ‘Not So Serious,’ with actress Esha Gupta acting as the showstopper in a silver shimmery figure-hugging gown with feather details in the bottom.

Another surprise package on the first day of the week-long fashion festivities was Hardik Pandya, who walked for Amit Aggarwal’s collaborative collection with Elan — Elan x Amit Aggarwal.
