Many years ago, when R. Madhavan entered Bollywood, he had everyone take notice of him for his charming, innocent role in the romantic movie from the tinseltown collection “Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein” starring opposite actress Dia Mirza. Just like Dia Mirza, we had too fallen for him as he captivated the silver screen with all his innocence and compassion. Sure, Saif Ali Khan made a stylish entry but it was Maddy’s smile and charm that cast a spell on us! Ever since then, he has had us rooting for him and several other unconventional guys. Today on June 1, 2020 as he turns 50, let’s look back at some of the unforgettable Bollywood memories he has given us in all these years.

He was the reason we all started to root for unconventional guys. That explains why we were on Maddy’s side in the epic movie “Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein”. Who can resist that smile anyway? But there was more to him than being the romantic chocolate boy. That’s when the Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer “Guru” comes to mind where he played the role of a fearless journalist who hopelessly fell in love with Vidya Balan despite her incurable condition.

His Breakthrough Performances

Then of course there was Maddy’s short but rockstar-like performance in the patriotic movie “Rang De Basanti” as Flight Lt. Ajay Rathod made him outstandingly noteworthy. Remember how he proposed to Soha Ali Khan aka Sonia? That scene will be etched in our mind forever. One of the greatest hits of Indian Cinema “3 Idiots” wouldn’t have been complete without R Madhavan aka Farhan Qureshi.

His Versatility

Later he won us over in the sequels of “Tanu Weds Manu” franchise along with her co-partner Kangana Ranaut with his helpless, innocent avatar. And just when you thought he was only meant for innocent lovable roles, he stunned us with his brooding boxer avatar in “Saala Khadoos” which was also released in Tamil as “Irudhi Suttru”. In all these years, he has portrayed his characters so realistically that you begin to believe he is actually living them.

The Poster Boy Of Romance

But this is only a part of his work. Before Bollywood, he created a huge mark in the South Indian Films industry. In fact, that is where his journey commenced. He introduced the idea of a chocolate boy down South. Mani Ratnam’s creation “Alaipayuthey” had everyone going gaga over this remarkable actor who also happened to dazzle you with his smile and honesty. Post that there was no looking back. You can tell that he has proved to be a versatile actor who has taken challenges head on.

His Love For Webseries

Take for instance, his performance for the web series – “Breathe”. Would you believe that the very guy who left us weak in the knees also had us terrified with his dark act? Surprisingly, there is no stopping Maddy really! And we are not complaining either because Bollywood is lucky enough to have such amazing actors in its realm of possibilities, where every possible character breathes with immense perseverance and magic casted by the performer. We wish you a very happy birthday, R. Madhavan!
