For The Dusky Damsel

Prep Your Skin: Irrespective of what your skin type is like, one must always keep her skin hydrated and moisturised. Flawless makeup can be close to impossible to achieve on flaky skin. To begin with, you need a clean canvas to work on. Cleanse your face with a good face wash and follow it up by applying a moisturiser that works best for your skin type without making it oily.

Foundation: Choosing the right foundation goes a long way. Make sure you choose a foundation that is closest to your skin tone. Anything lighter or darker than your skin tone will ruin the complete look. Pro Tip: If you are not able to find a shade best suited for your skin, go ahead and blend two shades to get the desired shade. Apply it on your forehead or your jawline to check whether the shade goes well with your skin tone or not. You can also try applying a lighter shade on the centre of your face as it will give your face a fresher and brighter appearance.

Concealer: Keep those blemishes and dark circles at bay with the help of a concealer. Start by drawing a triangle along the top portion of your cheekbones and towards the tip of your eyebrows. This will not only provide excellent coverage but will also illuminate the area around your eyes.

Highlighter: A highlighter comes in quite handy if you wish to make your eyes look larger. Apply a little bit of it under your brow bone and the crease of your eyelids. You can also apply some on the apple of your cheeks and the centre of your face, starting from your forehead and downwards till your chin.

Bronzer: For a fresh and sun-kissed look, go ahead and dab it lightly at your temples, along the sides of your face, forehead, nose and chin. A bronzer can help make your face appear angular and chiselled.

Eye Makeup: For a day event ditch the eyeshadow and keep it minimal with an eyeliner and a heavy duty mascara. If you do want to apply eyeshadow go for subtle shades like browns, pinks and greys. If you wish to carry off a bolder look for evening functions, you can choose metallic shades. Steer clear from powder eyeshadow or lighter hues that will make your skin look dull.

Lipstick: Matte shades like dark reds, browns and maroons work the best for dusky beauties. You can also choose a lip colour that is one shade darker than your natural lip colour. Don’t forget to apply foundation that matches your lip colour before applying the desired shade of lip colour.

Blush:  To achieve the much coveted bridal glow, incorporate a blush that works well with your skin tone. Colours like deep rose hues and plums will go a long way in accentuating your best features.

For The Fair Maiden

Set The Base: Since fair-skinned ladies suffer from skin redness, apply a primer immediately after moisturising, followed by a concealer to cover any blemishes or redness. Use a foundation that blends well with your skin, otherwise all efforts spent into your look will be wasted and you will end up looking too pale after the makeup is done.

Moderation Is The Key: The trick is to use highlighter and bronzer in moderation and not overdo it. Be stringent while applying the highlighter on your cheekbones, the centre of your nose, forehead and also on the cupid’s bow for a flawless look.

All About The Eyes: Pale and neutral coloured eyeshadows work like a dream for fair-skinned brides. Champagne hues, greys and soft pinks will make your eyes look enchanting. If it complements your wedding attire, you can also try smokey eyes or the winged eyeliner and line your inner lower rim with a brown pencil to contrast the black liner. Choose a black waterproof eyeliner paired with loads of mascara to get a more traditional look.

Let your Lips Do the Talking: Unlike dusky-skinned brides, you should by all means avoid dark and bold shades of lipsticks and opt for subtle shades of pinks like rosy pink, soft apricots or light coral. Selecting the right shade of lipstick can brighten up your entire look. Never line your lips with a dark coloured lip liner.
