The Bollywood industry has always been a great platform for talents, including the actors, directors, cinematographers, designers, musicians, singers. Monali Thakur is one cute, chirpy and supremely talented singer from the tinsel town. She started her profession as a singer in the year 2006 when she had participated in the entertainment show “Indian Idol”. During the show, Monali had fallen in love with Meiyang Chang. Monali had found solace in a Swiss restaurateur Maik Richter, who hails from Europe and is a businessman. She had officially made her relationship public with him by sharing it on her official social media account. She had posted cute pictures with the man of her life and had written, “My Man, my Lou!!! That’s Maik my dear friends!”
In an interview, Monali dropped the bomb, revealing that she has been married to her boyfriend, Maik Richter since 2017 and nobody knows about it. She said, “The news of my marriage will come as a shock to many as none of my industry friends were aware or invited. We kept delaying the ceremony and announcement and three years just passed by.” Monali admitted that she knows her friends and colleagues will be upset knowing the truth of her hiding the news of her marriage from them. She says, “I think when we have our wedding ceremony and invite people for the celebrations, they won’t be upset anymore.”
The Proposal
She spills the beans about her romantic proposal and shared, “I met Maik during my trip to Switzerland and we clicked instantly. Not just him, I made a connection with his family, too. Maik proposed to me at the exact spot where we had met for the first time, under a tree, on a freezing Christmas Eve 2016. My reply was an instant yes.” Monali also released a song recently which also stars her husband.
On April 22, 2020, Monali Thakur had taken to her Instagram handle to post a beautiful picture of her, with her partner Maik Richter, celebrating three years of togetherness. She had captioned the picture as “We are special indeed… @maaaik_richter…You look like a 10-year-old…Congratulations on our longest relationship ever!”
Their Banter
In an interview, she had talked about her first meeting with now-husband, Maik. She had revealed, “I booked our accommodation online and Maik was the host. Though his boarding facility was booked, he was sweet enough to host me and my friends at his home. He gave us the bedrooms and slept on the couch! That was a really sweet gesture and we continued to stay in touch.” When Maik was asked about what made him fall for her. He had said, “I love the way she prepares the pulses. I can eat it anytime.”
Monali had then intruded, “He is more Indian than I am when it comes to food. Once we went to eat pani puri in Juhu and the guy at the counter was dishing out really bland pani puris. Maik was like, ‘Give me more spice’, and the counter guy told me, ‘Madam, his stomach will get upset.’ I just burst out laughing!”
