An MP businessman, Jagdeesh Arora, who owns Som Distilleries hired a 180-seater A320 plane of a private carrier. He did it to fly just four people — his daughter, her two children and their house help. The Madhya Pradesh liquor baron hired an Airbus A320. He made this move to bring his family back to Delhi. The family had been in Bhopal since the imposition of the nation-wide lockdown in the country by the government.

The aircraft was hired in Delhi. It took off from the national capital at 9.30 am. And it reached Bhopal at around 10.30 am. Then, it took off from Bhopal for Delhi at around 11.30 am with four people on board. According to sources in the aviation department, several other options were available — such as a six and an eight-seater chartered plane — but Jagdeesh Arora chose the Airbus. According to an industry insider’s estimate, the MP businessman coughed up anything between Rs 25 to 30 lakh to fly four people from Bhopal to Delhi. (Source: India Today)

Guidelines for Private Flights

The civil aviation ministry issued an order on Monday, May 25, allowing private jets and chartered flights to operate on domestic routes. Hence, the uber-rich can now jet across the nation in the luxury of their own private or chartered aircraft. Therefore, as per the order, domestic air services by non- scheduled and private operators shall resume with effect from May 25. These include Fixed Wing, Helicopters and Microlight aircraft.

Also, most of the guidelines issued by the aviation ministry are similar to the ones issued earlier. These are almost same as for passengers of operators of domestic commercial passenger flights. Also, displaying status on the Aarogya Setu app is necessary on terminals for private jets as well. The passenger must go to a counter provided by the airport where the app download facility is available.
