The second edition of the Pro Wrestling League commenced on 2nd January 2017. The season sees more emphasis on the girls, from Sakshi Malik to Phogat sisters. The Wedding Affair team indulged in a candid chat with Team Delhi Sultan’s Sakshi Malik and her fiancé Satyawart Kadian. Sakshi advised the girls to make up their mind for what they want to do and communicate that with the parents, and to pursue their dreams with passion.
A total of six teams, namely Delhi Sultans, UP Dangal, Jaipur Ninjas, NCR Punjab Royals, Mumbai Maharathi and Haryana Hammers, in the second season, will be seen grappling for a total prize of 15 crore, at Delhi’s KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium.
The season kicked off with a bang. An enthralling match filled with zest on the first day itself, saw Haryana Hammers registering their first victory against defending Champions Mumbai Maharathi. After winning against Mumbai Maharathi, on Monday, the Haryana team beat UP Dangal 5-2 in New Delhi. The league will see its conclusion on 19th January, 2017.
Only two teams from the previous have been retained while Mumbai, UP and Delhi have new owners. Jaipur Ninjas are a new entry.
54 World Class wrestlers from India, Russia, Georgia, Belarus, Tunisia, Colombia, Venezuela and Azerbaijan including Rio Olympic gold medalist Vladimir Khinchegashvili and India’s renowned wrestlers, from Sakshi Malik to Sandeep Tomar will be seen as a part of the league.
The second season couldn’t have a better timing, given that the film inspired from Wrestling has just released and has precipitated fascination for the game among the viewers. The Phogat sisters, representing Uttar Pradesh will be on display. Though the spectators will be disappointed following the withdrawal of likes of Sushil Kumar and Yogeshwar Dutt.
The love and support for the game is making way and its thrill and amusement is gearing excitement in the viewers.
