There is a great library of shows and movies on OTT platforms already. But in the month of July, the OTT platform is pulling out all the stops. There’s also a bunch of films that are joining the roster of new shows and movies on various OTT platforms that are releasing in July 2020. Sufiyum Sujatayum

This film is the newest title joining the list of Malayalam movies on Amazon Prime Video. It is written and directed by Naranipuzha Shanavas of Karie fame. It features Aditi Rao Hydari and Jayasurya in lead roles. Producer Vijay Babu describes the film as a “thrilling musical affair of hearts”. Sufiyum Sujatayum is the first Malayalam film to have a digital premiere only. Henceforth, the producer explained this decision as one they had to take to cope with the financial losses caused by the pandemic and help those who depend on cinema for their daily wages.

Breathe: Into The Shadows

While Breathe’s first season had R Madhavan playing the lead role. This time, the new season will be led by Abhishek Bachchan. Antagonist Amit Sadh will retain his role, while other actors like Saiyami Kher (of Choked fame) and Nithiya Menon will also join the cast. The plot of the second season will have Bachchan and Nithiya play parents to a girl called Siya who ends up getting kidnapped. It is also being reported that Bachchan Junior’s role is inspired by Ravana.

Hanna Season 2

The second season of Hanna is definitely among the most-awaited shows on Amazon Prime Video. The story’s about a young, genetically enhanced super-soldier (played by Esme Creed-Miles). Born as part of the CIA’s UTRAX program, who becomes the target of CIA agents for her superpowers and combat skills. The first season saw Hanna escaping from her chasers in hopes to lead the life of a normal teenager. Making new friends, meeting other genetically enhanced soldiers and her arch-nemesis, Marissa (Mireille Enos). The second season will focus on her encounter with those soldiers and how she deals with Marissa and the other CIA agents.

Dil Bechara

The trailer of Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film Dil Bechara released on July 6. The film, which is set to premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on July 24. This marks the directorial debut of casting director Mukesh Chhabra. Based on John Green’s 2012 bestseller The Fault In Our Stars. Dil Bechara was slated to release in theaters on May 8, but it got delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film also stars Sanjana Sanghi, Saif Ali Khan and Swastika Mukherjee in pivotal roles. On June 25, Disney Plus Hotstar announced that Dil Bechara would be released digitally. As a result, it also shared that the movie will be available for subscribers as well as non-subscribers of the streaming platform.

Absentia (Season 3)

 

This series tells the story of an FBI agent called Emily Byrne, who goes missing while probing a serial killer and is pronounced dead after a while. However, six years later, she is found in a cabin in the woods with no memory of her past. It features Stana Katic in the lead, who you may remember as your crush from Castle. Everyone is awaiting this one with bated breathe, keeping in mind that the first two seasons were appreciated by one and all. Expectations from this season are also high. July seems to be quite entertaining.
