The actor played a pivotal role as Thorton’s troubled son and the whole cast was highly appreciated for their note-worthy performance. Halle Berry even won an Oscar for her role in the movie.

4. 10 Things I Hate About you (1999)

And this movie cultivated Ledger as a heartthrob. The rom-com featured him as a bad boy who eventually falls for a girl who he was supposed to woo just for a bet. It was among his initial few roles and we noticed how ledger tried to steer away from an on-screen romantic stature.

5. Brokeback Mountain (2005)

The Ang Lee-directed film starred Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal as two sheepherders who fall in love while working together one season and carry on a hidden passion for years to come. This role helped Ledger to establish himself as a gritty versatile actor and both the leads were highly praised for their flawless performances.
