The Sensational – Nikki Tamboli

Standing strong in the face of all the pull backers, is the emerging free spirited star— Nikki Tamboli. In a candid conversation with WA, she talks about work and life.

A Marathi mulgi, Nikki Tamboli hails from Mumbai and is a true Mumbaikar at heart. In 2019, she made her acting debut with her film ‘Kanchana 3’followed by ‘Chikati Gadilo Chithakotudu’ and then in Telugu film ‘Thipparaa Meesam’. Later, the beautiful actor won the audience’s hearts with her presence in ‘Bigg Boss 14’, winning as the 2nd runner-up. She also bagged a position in ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 11’ and ‘Khatra Khatra
Khatra’. Tamboli also featured in a number of music videos, Dil Kisi Se, Shanti, Behri Duniya, Number Likh, to name a few; Tamboli has been in the industry for the past couple
of years.

1. What prompted you to pursue a career in film?

Actually, I never wanted to be an actor. But as I worked and did films and other acting assignments, I fell in love with it. Gradually my passion increased, and now I’m at such a point that I wake up every day eager to work and learn more. There are legends in the industry that I look up to and keep learning from.

2. How has the transition from modelling to acting been for you?

Quite smooth, I must say. Once you start getting recognised for your work, offers start to follow. I am grateful for the opportunities I have received that have helped me get here.

3. What has been the main driving force behind your motivation throughout the years, including your biggest learnings from ‘Kanchana 3’? Any plan to return?

My work and my family are the driving forces in my life. I keep reminding myself of the goal and continue loving what I do. Of course, I would love to return to the big screen in future, given the right kind of roles.

4. How would you describe your style (describe your fashion)?

My style is my identity. What I wear represents the way I feel. Fashion to me is a way to express my best — my emotions and my interests.

5. Do you have any specific dream role in mind?

I would love to try new roles that challenge me as an actor and an individual. I love to spice things up.

6. Talking about the social media trolls and constant comparisons, what are your views, and how do you deal with them?

Trolling has become quite rampant these days, and any person of some fame gets trolled for anything and everything. It’s a thing people do to make themselves feel good and put the opposite person down, but jokes on them because it doesn’t affect the real heroes. I choose to ignore such people and trolls.

7. For the past couple of years, you have been doing reality shows. What differentiates it from working on a film set?

As actors, we love acting in films, music videos, or reality shows. Both experiences are different; it’s not the same at all. Reality shows are a different ball game as they test your patience, limits and personality. Films don’t work in the same way. Reality shows do. But overall, both are exciting and carry their own experiences.

8. Your intentions to working on OTT films/series in light of the expanding trend?

OTT is a great platform and I am really looking forward to working on projects for the OTT space. It has Revamped the entire look of the industry, and I’m excited to see what kind of roles I would be offered to play.

9. Tell us more about your passion for fitness.

Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. Being physically active can improve your brain health, help you manage weight, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones and muscles, and improve your ability to do everyday activities. It’s not only a passion. It’s a lifestyle.

Favourite film: ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Golmaal 1’, ‘Seeta aur Geeta’.

Favourite destination: Dubai. Kashmir, New York and Switzerland are on my bucket list.

A childhood memory: Summer vacation for me and my brother meant having ice cream every day as soon as the exams finished. Our parents would take us to an ice cream parlour giving us the best memories for life.

Film v/s music videos: Both. Acting bridges all platforms. The only difference is the lead time of shoots between the two.

Wedding plans: None yet.
