This is The Checklist for Your Honeymoon

40

Finally, heading for the honeymoon of your dreams with the partner of your dreams? We too are excited! Packed the bags for the long romantic escape? We too are looking forward to it. But there are some things that you need to take care of before you board the flight. Apart from your travel insurance, official documents and their photocopies, lose currency, and IDs, here are some things that you need to carry every time you are out, especially with your partner on a honeymoon –

  1. Physical Map
A paper map to the rescue.

Yes, we are aware that all the smartphones these days are well equipped with the latest features including the map of any part of the world. However, you never know when your phone might go off, lose its signals, or become unresponsive due to a glitch. This is why it is important for you and your partner to carry along a physical paper map of the place that you are going to visit, just like the good old days of ancient treasure hunts. This will give you an idea of where you are, if not the exact location. Also, keep a compass handy to remember the direction you are moving in. Remember the time when you used the internet map to reach a location quickly, but ended up taking the longest route? That is exactly what we are trying to avoid.

  1. Torches

    Keep a high beam torch.

Another essential is two high battery and high beam torches. We realize that you might think that is an actual treasure hunt checklist. But carrying such stuff is important for the both of you to help you out in case of emergency and not leave you empty-handed. Keeping a torch with you secures the light source with you and helps when in places of darkness or depth. Also, if you are going hiking or camping on your honeymoon, you will require a torch.

  1. Batteries
Pack the powerbanks and the batteries.

Carrying electronics and no batteries? Not a funny joke we assume. Apart from the charger of your smartphones and tangible cameras, you need to keep batteries for extra support, just like you carry a power bank with your charger. Batteries for torches and electrical appliances like a hair straightener or trimmer are also important. If you do not wish to ruin your romantic getaway, keep these at hand for a better experience.

  1. Sunscreen
SPF for the both of you.

While taking of your surroundings, it is crucial that you take care of your skin also. After all, who wants to return home all tanned and burnt from a honeymoon that was nothing but intimate? Keep a sunscreen for you and your partner according to the needs of the skin and with high SPF. When you travel out of your natural habitat, you are usually unaware of the UVA and UVB rays of the location. This is why you need protection from the newfound sunlight. Also, carry a hat and a pair of sunglasses with you.

  1. Medicines
Medicines for the road.

This is non-negotiable. Falling sick while you’re out is normal and nothing to get worried about. People do feel fatigued, cold, and restless, apart from having a headache, motion sickness, or nauseous. You must keep a mini first aid box with all the essential medicines for common issues like these and also for body aches and essential oils for massage and relaxation. Keep birth control and condoms too.

  1. Luggage Tags
Don’t forget luggage tags for all your bags.

Don’t be surprised if you find another couple with similar bags as yours, or if you hear an announcement about missing luggage. People travel all the time and this is a regular. But in order to prevent a situation like this, use similar luggage tags on all your bags with the correct name and contact details for the both of you.

  1. Toiletries
Essential toiletries to carry.

Even if you are checking into a luxury hotel with the best-rated amenities, you still need toiletries with you. This includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, something to wash your clothes, tampons, combs, towels, and bathroom slippers. Sure, you can bring back the ones that the accommodation provides you, but having yours by your side is a deep sigh of relief. You will also require these for mid-travel, like moving from one location to another.

  1. Safety Tools
A safety tool kit.

This blog is all about your safety and preventing a ruined honeymoon at all costs. For this, you will need to keep some safety tools with you in case you are alone or in a situation of difficulty. It is best to carry a mini knife and pepper spray with you at all times as these work as the best weapons.

  1. Notebook
Carry a mini notebook and a pen.

Lastly, you will need a mini notebook, diary or sticky note, and a pen on your travel trip. This is to make emergency notes of any important thing while you are on the move. Again, we understand that your phone might have this feature all the time, but we are assuming a situation where technology is not present to help you out.
