Indian Historical Beauty
Indian history is a thing of beauty in all aspects be it the opulent outfits, brilliant architecture or classical music, all of which served as a source of inspiration for many designers at the ICW 2024. Couture designers chose to look back at the Indian royalty with fashionable lenses and created some of the best ensembles representing old luxury in contemporary silhouettes.
Abu Sandeep’s ASAL & MARD collection is inspired by the Indian rajas and rajkumaris highlighting maximalist embroidery and dramatic borders, JJ Valaya’s Muraqqa featuring royal fabrics like velvets and silks, Jayanti Reddy’s Evocative Nawabi Canvas giving an ode to the Hyderabadi Nawabs with heritage textiles and antique motifs, and our favourite Falguni Shane Peacock’s Rang Mahal collection with its symbolic embroideries of Indian royal symbols. If a royal bride is your dream aesthetic, definitely check out these collections!
Structured Silhouettes
One of the highlights of experimentalism at the ICW 2024 was definitely the structured silhouettes adding the oomph of extravagance to the designer creations. Suneet Varma’s collection Nazm caught the eye of many with the blouses adorned with big flowers and veils to the pallus with frill borders. Amit Aggarwal surprised with his collection Antevorta which made use of metallic wires, mesh masks and stiff swirls to create unique silhouettes.
European Influences
Many designers at the ICW 2024 turned to European influences for inspiration. The Art of Eternity by Isha Jajodia took inspiration from the French architectural landmarks to create a feminine collection featuring lace fabrics, chikankari work and lots of pearls. Rimzim Dadu wowed with her collection of Stucco inspired by European Baroque architecture and Stucco art. With elongated drapes and a metallic-cord encased lineup, the outfits featured an interaction between architecture and design. The third collection with an exemplary inspiration from the Roman king Caligula was Siddharth Tytler’s Caligula’s Feast with its armour-esque touches to dupattas draped like Togas, there were tons of Roman influences to adore.

Floral Freedom
In the past few years, designers and fashion enthusiasts have embraced the grace of pastels and florals. Couturiers at the India Couture Week 2024 embraced the femininity of wedding fashion with lovely floral designs. La Vie En Rose by Dolly J was so rosy with fabrics like tissue, tulle, chiffon and silk, and shimmer and floral motifs. Rahul Mishra topped the floral game with his collection Nargis inspired by the Mughal Garden. With vibrant and colourful floral motifs the outfits resembled the rich floral variety of Mughal gardens.
Jewellery Galore
Brides, make sure to check out the jewellery worn by models at the India Couture Week 2024. We especially loved the elegant head jewellery displayed in various collections from traditional to modern sheesh patti designs, elegant maang tikas to layered necklaces and precious gemstones. Siddharth Tytler featured some royal Romanesque sheesh pattis in his collection, Falguni Shane Peacock had a new style of jewelled sehras for the grooms, Kunal Rawal’s charms ghoonghat for brides, Tarun Tahiliani’s jewelled hair pins and layered necklaces, diamond kamarbands, JJ Valaya’s emeralds and pearls, and Gaurav Gupta’s rubies are definitely worth it.
The Trending Two
Corsets and Mermaid Lehengas have caught the bridal eye this year and thus many designers featured corset blouses, gowns, and mermaid lehengas in their collections like Rimzim Dadu, Rahul Mishra and Isha Jajodia.
