The first-ever World Television Forum was held on 21 November 1996. In the same year in December, the United Nations proclaimed the date of 21 November as World Television Day. Since then, this day has been observed worldwide to celebrate the great invention of Television.

Sarabhai VS Sarabhai
Directed by Deven Bhojani, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai was first aired on Star One on 1 November 2004. Considered a cult classic, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai left everyone in splits with its impeccable comic timing and exceptional acting of the ensemble cast featuring names like Ratna Pathak Shah, Rupali Ganguly, and Satish Shah.
But, what captured the audience’s hearts other than the show’s interesting plot was the beautiful romance between the son and daughter-in-law of the family, Sahil and Monisha which beautifully depicts the storyline of opposites attract. Sahil being a professional cosmetologist is a calm and mature man who adores his wife, Monisha’s quirkiness without any complaints. Shararat-Thoda Jaadu Thodi Nazaakat
Shararat – Thoda Jaadu, Thodi Nazaakat is an Indian fantasy sitcom which aired on Star Plus channel from 2003 to 2006. Revolving around the main character of Jiya who hails from a family of fairies, she becomes the wielder of magical powers on her 18th birthday. But, it is not Jiya’s romance that the audience notices, it is his father Dr Suraj Malhotra’s patience, care, and love for his wife and family that captured their attention.
A caring husband and doting father, his love for his wife and his family always came in handy in the troubles caused by the women of his family. Radha, his wife who was also a fairy also proves his love and care by promising to never use her magic unless in an emergency to avoid troubles. Suraj’s patience and Radha’s sacrifice make them one of the most underrated TV couples in the Indian television industry.
Khichdi
The next on our list of beloved couples of Indian television on this World Television Day is the dynamic duo of Hansa-Praful from Khichdi. Khichdi is a beloved Hindi language sitcom which debuted on StarPlus on 10 September 2002. Even after many years of its completion, the quirky dialogues of this classic are still memorable for its viewers. The highlight of this show was the unconventional but cute romance between the couple Hansa and Praful, in which Praful would cutely provide wrong answers to his wife Hansa’s quirky questions.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah often abbreviated as TMKOC, is the longest-running Indian sitcom based on the weekly column Duniya Ne Undha Chasma by Tarak Mehta for the Chitralekha magazine. It is safe to say that this sitcom was our whole childhood. And, it would be unfair to highlight only one couple. Every couple in this show depicts love in their open unique font. Whether be the calm romance of Anjali-Taarak, or quirkiness of Daya-Jethalal, or even the over-the-top excitement of Roshan and Roshan. The last on our list of beloved Indian TV couples on this World Television Day is Ram-Priya. Bade Achhe Lagte Hain is an Indian soap opera that aired on Sony Entertainment Television from 30 May 2011 to 10 July 2014. Unlike traditional Indian soap operas, this show was a breath of fresh air with its unconventional storyline of two individuals who discover love after getting married. The on-screen chemistry of Sakshi Tanwar and Ram Kapoor playing the main characters is still adored by their fans to this age.
