Popular badminton player PV Sindhu got married in a regal and grand ceremony to entrepreneur Venkatta Datta Sai, CEO of Posidex Technologies on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024. The wedding ceremony was held in Udaipur’s luxurious resort, Raffles, surrounded by the bride and groom’s family and friends.
The acclaimed player celebrated the big event through three days of festivities including a sangeet, haldi, pellikuthuru, a Bridgerton-inspired mehendi and a wedding. The festivities began with a Mughal-E-Azam-themed sangeet where PV Sindhu adorned a dark green sparkling gown and Venkatta complemented her in a black kurta pyjama and green jacket with mirrorwork. The haldi was a pomegranate-themed intimate affair where the bride adorned a white ensemble from Asal by Abu Sandeep. A part of their ‘Geo Floral’ collection it featured ivory and beige details highlighted with a feast of mirrors.
Post the haldi and sangeet, PV Sindhu had her Pellikuthuru ceremony where she adorned a stunning red Kanjeevaram saree with layered diamond and emerald jewellery. Like many of us, the Olympic medalist seems to be fond of ‘Bridgerton’ and thus had a Bridgerton-themed mehendi ceremony with pastel-hued decor and delicate flower arrangements. During her mehendi, the exemplary sportswoman looked ethereal in a lavender palazzo set by Papa Don’t Preach, paired with contemporary jewellery from Outhouse jewellery.
Then it was time for the varmala where PV Sindhu resembled a Rajasthani queen clad in a handcrafted Mysore silk lehenga paired with an embroidered dupatta and the ‘Kanthi’ blouse from Sabyasachi’s Heritage Bridal Collection. Venkatta was also a Sabyasachi groom who adorned a hand-crafted silk sherwani paired with a hand-woven tissue shawl from the same collection. Both accessorised their fits with jewellery from Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery.

For her traditional Telugu-style wedding, PV Sindhu sparkled in an heirloom Manish Malhotra saree from the designer’s Evara collection, featuring gold and silver Ganga Jamuna threadwork with badla and zardozi embroidery. She completed her bridal look with a headveil embellished with zari borders with her and her husband’s names and paired the outfit with a multi-tiered imperial heirloom necklace, featuring Zambian emeralds and uncut diamonds from Manish Malhotra jewellery. Venkatta looked every bit of a royal groom in a Manish Malhotra brocade sherwani with delicate silver leaf arabesques. He elevated the ensemble with a stole and shaffa crafted with gold and silver tissue and a timeless dhoti.
The couple’s wedding was a traditional affair complete with cultural ceremonies and modern celebrations. It was attended by eminent personalities such as the Union Culture and Tourism Minister of the Government of India, Mr Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
The newly wedded couple hosted a grand reception in Hyderabad on December 24th, 2024. While the bride dazzled in an ivory Falguni Shane Peacock lehenga featuring intricate Swarovski crystal work and emerald embellishments, the groom looked dashing in a sleek black velvet bandh gala with tonal embroidery.
It was attended by many popular faces from the cinematic and sports world. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and other political personalities were seen at the reception alongside the bride’s friend from the sports world, Sania Mirza. Actors such as Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi, Ajith and Mrunal Thakur were also present to congratulate the champion on her big day.
