For her latest Janmashtami shoot, actress Tamannaah Bhatia looks divine as both Radha and Krishna for designer Torani.
Designer Torani celebrated Janmashtami 2024 by sharing pictures of another beautiful photo series with actress Tamannaah Bhatia. This time the actress shone as both Radha and Krishna wearing an orange lehenga from the collection ‘Leela’. Her look was a merge between lord Krishna and Radha, showcasing Radha’s Deewangi or madness for her love.
If you are not living under a rock, you must have come across Torani’s latest photoshoot featuring Tamannaah Bhatia, where the diva turned head with her Radha avatar. The campaign, ‘Leela: The Divine Illusion of Love’, so far has made waves on social media with its unique take on the eternal love story of lord Krishna and Radha. Tamannaah is looking absolutely stunning wearing elegant outfits from the designer’s ‘Leela’ collection embodying different forms of Radha and depicting various moods and stories of her. The unexplored stories, the folklore, the classic tale of undying love – there is no reason not to fall in love with the photoshoot.
After representing ‘Bhakti’ or Radha’s devotion towards Krishna, designer Karan Torani decided to represent the next stage of Radha’s love for Krishna, which is madness or ‘Deewangi’. The new images of Tamannaah were posted with the actress painted in Krishna’s colour blue, standing by the shore with Krishna and his flute. It’s a depiction of how Radha’s deep love made her merge with lord Krishna where she looked at herself and saw Krishna. Her hands turn blue, her reflection in the water becomes that of his.
While everybody else worshipped Krishna, Radha’s love was so intense and deep that her soul and body became his, they became one with another. The part of the caption read “Her reflection is Krishna, her shadow is Krishna, her name is Krishna, she looks at her arms and they seem blue to her. There is no ending to Krishna, where Radha doesn’t begin. If Krishna is the moon, Radha is its light.”

Torani drew inspiration from folk tales and stories regarding Krishna and Radha often dressing up as each other. It shows how the two of them often forgot their individual existence and became one. “If Krishna is the all powerful ‘Shaktiman’, Radha is his power, his ‘Shakti’. Krishna and Radha are one – one mind, one heart and one soul.” It is also believed that when Krishna realised his duty to the earth and left Vrindavan and Radha behind, he left his beloved Bansuri or flute to his lad love.
Later on, it was Radha who played the flute to keep Krishna’s presence alive in Vrindavan. The flute is identical to lord Krishna and it shows how the love between Radha and Krishna made them one. In the shoot, we see Tamannaah as Radha with the flute, lost in her thoughts by the water.
Tamannaah was dressed in a dreamy traditional ensemble for the shoot: an orange and red embroidered lehenga choli set. The blouse is adorned with intricate and fine zardozi embroidery, sequin embellishments, scalloped borders, a deep V-neck and slits on the front and sides. The lehenga she wore was a bright red A-line skirt with scalloped borders and a hemline decorated with gold embroidery. The orange dupatta draped on her head with zardozi embroidered borders and shimmering gold cluster diamantes finished her look as the Deewangi avatar of Radha.
For jewellery, Tamannaah wore stunning maang teeka, maharani necklace and kadas with gold, pearl and emerald in traditional kundan work. Her hair was tied in a bun with loose tresses complimenting the orange dupatta. While Tamannaah’s skin was painted a blue hue symbolising her becoming Krishna in her love, her light day makeup stood out. Kohl-rimmed waterline, defined brows, blue contoured cheekbones, red bindi and light rose lips – she looked as breathtaking as divine.
