2024 has been a ride! While bumpy for some, it has mostly been pleasant for all and left everyone with core memories that light up the dreamland of our lives with their sweetness. One of the best memories out of all has to do with the brides of 2024 who walked down the petal-strewn aisle towards the love of their lives.

Weddings have always held the highest pedestal in the events of one’s life, making for a moment that feels like touching the peak of the highest mountain there is. It’s stress-inducing, exhilarating and satisfying in the best ways possible. When it comes to brides, 2024 might have been a bit of a rollercoaster with all the trousseau planning that had to be done before D-day. But, in the end, we are sure every single bride out there completely aced her bridal style and graced her wedding with uber-cool main character vibes.

To help you revisit that time of elation and joy, Wedding Affair has begun its new series ‘Wedding Affair Approved’, where we put a magnifying lens on the grandest and most exemplary trends of the year. Check out the top bridal fashion trends 2024 below!

Ruling Reds

While pastels may have dominated the wedding trousseau for different festivities, for the wedding day brides chose the timelessness and heritage of red over all the colours. From Sonakshi Sinha’s red brocade Banarasi saree from the designer label Raw Mango to Aditi Rao Hydari’s bold red custom Sabyasachi lehenga, red spread its splendour in bridal outfits this year.

Minimalistic Mehendi

Minimalistic Mehendi

Ditching the age-old style of mehendi designs to the elbow, modern-day brides have now shifted to minimalistic mehendi. They either adorn their hands with mehendi on the front and back of their palms or opt for symbolic shapes drawn with alta. What catches the eye here is the meaning behind these designs such as the crescent moon and the sun. While the half-moon symbolizes the eternal nature of love and marriage along with being divine due to its placement on the head of Lord Shiva, the sun stands for the timelessness of love.

Truly Traditional

Sobhita Dhulipala

While the fashion walkway propagates forward with new innovations for bridal attire, the traditional bridal costume has never lost its charm, which is dipped in heritage and culture. The biggest and most exquisite bridal fashion trends 2024 was the turn back to traditional attire. From Sobhita Dhulipala donning an antique gold Kanjivaram saree by designer Gaurang Shah, Radhika Merchant continuing her heritage in a regal Gujarati Panetar, Keerthy Suresh shining bright in the yellow and green Kanjivaram saree and Aditi Rao Hydari keeping it traditional yet minimal in a red silk lehenga from designer Sabyasachi’s Heritage Bridal Collection.

Pretty Pearl Makeup & Trending Tresses

While the bridal ensemble is the star, what makes it shine brighter are the makeup and hair. One of the most popular bridal fashion trends 2024 was the pearl makeup the brides looked ethereal in. With blushing hues of pink and highlighter on the lips, cheeks and eyes the pearl skin makeup lets the bride’s natural beauty and skin shine. For the tresses, most millennial brides relied on the classic bun whereas the Gen-Z ones experimented with loose and wavy tresses

Eternally Embellished

janhvi kapoor

One of the bridal fashion trends 2024 took an unmatchable peak this year and it was none other than bejewelled attires. From Surbhi Chandna’s blouse adorned with pearls to Janhvi Kapoor’s blouse embellished with real temple jewellery, brides and bridesmaids went for the more is more trend this year for sure!

Jewellery Galore

The Ambani wedding can be credited for most of the jewellery trends this year including polki and emeralds. Brides of 2024 styled their bridal fits with layered and heavy polki and emerald jewellery. Additionally, bridal jewellery no longer consisted of the necklace and earrings but the hair was also in focus with embellished braid jewellery and jadau pins decorating the bridal hairstyle.

Bougie Blouses

Bridal blouses were in the limelight this year be it in the fashion shows or weddings. Corsets, bandeau, off-the-shoulder were three most-worn blouses by brides this year. Another major addition to the bridal trousseau was gold and silver metallic bustiers worn by brides such as Aaliyah Kashyap for their reception.
