The wedding celebrations of Konark Gowariker and Niyati Kanakia are like a fantasy coming to life!
Konark Gowariker, son of the famous movie director Ashutosh Gowariker tied the knot with Niyati Kanakia in an intimate ceremony in Mumbai on March 2, 2025. The mind behind the 2002 Indian Oscar entry (Lagaan)-Ashutosh didn’t leave any stone unturned in making his son’s special day as memorable as possible. At least, that’s what, netizens concluded from the inside images and videos from the festivities.
The wedding celebrations kicked off with a bang with vibrant and lively pre-wedding festivities in the last week of February. The colourful haldi ceremony hosted on 28 February was attended by many close friends and family members actress Shazahn Padamsee, and director Ayan Mukerji, while the mehendi was a close-knit affair. The Internet is going gaga when the images and videos from the festivities are posted on social media. In those social media posts, the couple and their families were seen enjoying the celebrations to the fullest.

One well-known video from the Sangeet ceremony showed the pair dancing to upbeat music as Ashutosh and Sunita blessed the newlyweds and celebrated with their loved ones. Everyone was pleasantly surprised when Ashutosh even performed his dance routines to songs, including the popular song Mitwa from his movie Lagaan, which received a ton of adulation from online users.
Ashutosh and Sunita personally invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to their son Konark Gowariker’s wedding a few days prior, and a picture of the couple with the PM holding the invitation went viral.
The family threw a star-studded celebration for their close pals in the industry after the lavish ceremony in Mumbai. From the images and videos that surfaced online on the Internet, it could be seen that the celebration’s decor was heavily inspired from Gowariker’s monumental film, Lagaan. To make it even better, the lead pair of this iconic film Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh graced the celebrations with their charming presence. Aamir looked dapper in a crisp navy suit while his heroine, Gracy exuded sheer elegance in a sophisticated ethnic outfit.

Showcasing the beautiful bond with Aamir Khan’s family even after the divorce, his ex-wife Kiran Rao attended the event with Nupur Shikhare, husband of Ira Khan, daughter from his first wife. Sonali attended the couple’s special day with her husband Goldie Behl and looked stunning as always in a grey and silver saree. Goldie tried to keep up with the diva’s beauty by donning a white sleeper and a navy blue kurta. With Bollywood’s beloved couple Riteish and Genelia served major couple goals in a black bandhgala and a saree respectively.
The other important names that were also present there and made the event even more magical with their presence were Anu Malik, Pooja Hegde, Vidya Balan, veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, and Siddharth Roy Kapur.
