The Queen of Cannes is back! Aishwarya Rai exudes regal glamour in an ivory banarasi Manish Malhotra saree at Cannes 2025
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan graced the Cannes red carpet last night and we are mesmerised. The Cannes veteran looked like a queen on the carpet, representing the best of India, draped in a saree and strands of exquisite jewels. The actress served her first look at this year’s film festival, attending the premiere of the movie The History of Sound.
The timeless beauty chose a custom Manish Malhotra saree for her 22nd appearance at Cannes. The ivory saree is a celebration of craft, memory and magnificence. It’s a handwoven Kadwa Banarasi saree, paired with a full-sleeved blouse, a long pallu on her left side and a flowing lace train on her right. Ashwarya finished the look with heirloom high jewellery from Manish Malhotra Jewellery, featuring over 500 carats of Mozambique rubies and uncut diamonds. Her signature straight sleek hair, separated by sindoor, and matching red lips tied the whole look together.
The relationship between Aishwarya Rai and Cannes goes way back. From her first appearance in a golden yellow saree to last year’s disastrous fringe dress, she has served some of the best and boldest looks in the event’s history. Fans everywhere are over the moon seeing her regal comeback this year, hailing her look as “Paro in 2025”.
