Established in 1869 by Cotha Krishniah Chetty, the company initially traded coloured beads on a flourishing Commercial Street. Kundala Velai Design

Kundala Velai is a traditional jewellery-making style in south India. The jewellery pieces were inspired by traditional motifs like the temple architecture or elements from nature. These designs served as a blueprint for these jewellery pieces. Skilled artisans use metals like gold and silver to craft these ornamental pieces. They use gemstones like diamonds, rubies, emeralds or pearls, which are then carefully set into the desired metal. Sometimes they use enamel detailing too to enhance the design, adding vibrant colours and accents to the piece. Once the main components and the framework is done, the piece undergoes a final polish to enhance its lustre.
