The 52nd edition of the International Emmy Awards is being held in New York. Featuring 56 nominations from 21 countries across the globe, the event was presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS). It honoured and awarded the best TV programmes produced and aired outside the US in the year 2023.

Indian actor-comedian Vir Das hosted the award show, making history as the first Indian to emcee it. The popular media personality graced the event in an embroidered white kurta, flared anti-fit pants and a jacket on top paired with a classy emerald pendant. The outfit as promised by him on his social media was designed by a budding Indian designer Shubangi Bajpai under her fashion label, Salooka

The nominations for the International Emmy Awards 2024 were spread across 14 categories, including Arts Programming, Best Performance by an Actor, Best Performance by an Actress, Comedy, Documentary, Drama Series, Kids: Animation, Kids: Factual & Entertainment, Kids: Live-Action, Non-Scripted Entertainment, Short-Form Series, Sports Documentary, Telenovela and TV Movie / Mini-Series.

Indian series ‘The Night Manager’ featuring Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sobhita Dhulipala, had also been nominated at the event under the Drama Series Category. Actor Aditya Roy Kapur and the series creator Sandeep Modi attended the awards ceremony in three-piece black suits and carried the Indian flag with them in their hands. While the series lost the title to ‘Drops of God’ it was eminent in gaining visibility on a global platform.

  • Kids: Animation– Tabby McTat
  • TV Movie/Mini-Series– Liebes Kind [Dear Child]
  • Comedy– División Palermo
  • Best Performance by an Actor– Timothy Spall in The Sixth Commandment
  • Telenovela– La Promesa (The Vow)
  • Documentary– Otto Baxter: Not A F***ing Horror Story
  • Drama Series– Les Gouttes de Dieu [Drops of God]

The International Emmy Awards celebrate the contribution of television to the growth and entertainment of the minds of the country and the dedication that creators and producers have towards keeping the eminence of the medium alive.
