Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma gave birth to a girl, her husband, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli announced on social media. Kohli shared the news, and shortly the couple’s names started trending on social media. “We thank you for all your love, prayers and good wishes,” Kohli posted from his Twitter handle. The actress was taken to the Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai on Monday morning. Anushka and Virat announced their pregnancy in August last year with an adorable Instagram post. The star couple got married in Italy in December 2017 in a close-knit family affair.
Kohli wrote, “We are thrilled to share with you that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Love, Virat.” The couple is extremely popular on social media – millions follow them across different platforms. Kohli’s Instagram post received a million likes within just 24 minutes after he announced the news.

This followed a never-ending list of congratulatory messages, tweets and posts from fans as well as members of the film and the cricket fraternity. Madhuri Dixit, Farhan Akhtar, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Dia Mirza and many other celebs filled up social media with greetings for the couple. Anushka Sharma’s Dil Dhadakne Do co-star Farhan Akhtar tweeted: “Heartiest congratulations to Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli on the birth of their daughter. Lots of love.”

Fans speculate the Kohli’s brother shared the first picture of the baby girl. The skipper’s brother Vikas Kohli shared a picture of a baby’s feet to welcome the new addition to their family. He captioned the picture, “Happiness overboard …. angel in the house.” Virat’s sister Bhawna Kohli Dhingra also shared a heartfelt post for the new parents. She wrote, “So happy to be bua of a beautiful little angel. Congratulations proud parents Virat and Anushka.”
