They say when one survives a tragedy, every next breath feels like a liberation, a chance to live life once more the way you want. Designer Gaurav Gupta was unable to present at the Paris Fashion Week last season as his atelier in Delhi caught fire and his wife, Navkirat Sodhi also faced some serious injuries in it. Thus, this season the designer’s show was all about life across the flame, overarching the message of healing and of light beyond the darkest flames.

The designer presented a fiery and passionate Spring Summer 2025 collection ‘Across the Flame’ at the Paris Haute Couture Week on January 29th, 2025. Inspired by the metaphor, the designer’s show began with the opening words: “Caught in the fire and reborn in the light,” while his twin flame recited her poetry on the runway, “Taller than you is your mind, smaller than you is your pain.” In bold colours such as burnt orange, golden, navy blue, silver, ivory, and white, as well as flowing silhouettes in gowns and dresses, the collection was surely one for the books.
Catching eye on the front row was singer Megan Thee Stallion, who attended the designer’s show and collaborated with him to create the Chakric Drape Chain Gown she adorned for the showcase. “We’re giving ‘primitive space Cleopatra,’” she said while describing the look. The dress was crafted from layers of payals, while found pieces of Indian tribal jewellery were used to make the metallic sheath. The center of the gown had metallic amulets representing the chakras whereas her nails were uniquely inverted and painted in silver. The headpiece worn by the rapper was created in collaboration with Object & Dawn and was a stunning topper for the look. “It’s 2025 and we’re giving 3035,” said Megan on the red carpet.
“Megan is a cosmic force and working with her to craft this disruptive piece that embodies the spirit of tribal India has been exhilarating. Her willingness to explore and push boundaries made the collaboration a monumental moment,” captioned Gaurav Gupta while sharing a video of the rapper’s majestic attire on his social media.
