Day 1: Nahay Khay

This is the first day of Chhath puja in which the devotees take the holy bath in the Ganga river, after which their house is thoroughly cleaned. Then, they cook sattvik lauka bhaat (Bottle Gourd and Bengal Gram Lentil preparation with Arva Rice Bhaat) that is served to the deity in the form of bhog. This initiates the celebration of Chhath puja.

Day 2 : Rasiaav-Roti/Kharna/Lohanda

On the second day of Chhath puja, devotees don’t eat or drink the whole day as their offering to worship their deity and then in the evening, they break their fast by eating gur ki kheer.

Day 3: Sandhya arghya

On the third day of Chhath puja, the prasad is prepared as the offering, which usually consists of a bamboo basket decorated with fruits, thekua, and rice laddus. On the eve of this day, the entire household and friends of the devotee accompany them to the riverbank, pond, or a large waterbody to make the arghya offerings to the setting sun.

Day 4: Usha arghya

On the last day of Chhath puja, worshippers travel to the riverbank to worship the rising sun and parents pray for the peace and well-being of their family and children. After worship, followers break their fast by eating a small amount of prasada.
